Chapter Seven

RAVEN

I turned my phone off in the end, tired of Vinn’s calls and messages. I noticed Mac do the same, and I wondered if that was to avoid the same or if Ruby was still calling him. He’s secretive about his past, but it doesn’t bother me, simply because knowing everything about the brothers is tiring. It’s nice to be intrigued and not have all the answers. He isn’t piling his problems on to me.

We spent the entire day sightseeing and it’s been amazing. Mac has managed to distract me enough to only think about Vinn fleetingly. He’s paid for the entire day, despite my protests, and now, as we ride back to the clubhouse, I can’t help but feel sad. Our day has come to an end, and I have to face reality. Starting with work tomorrow.

Gia grabs my hand when I walk into the club. “Oh my god, you’ve driven Vinn crazy,” she says with delight.

“Oh?”

She heads up to my room, and I follow, giving a quick wave to Mac as he heads straight for Riggs’ office. She drags me into my room and closes the door. “So, tell me what the hell is going off.” She’s smiling, so I relax.

“Erm, do you mean with Vinn?”

“Yes, I mean with my brother. Sofia isn’t speaking to him. He’s tearing London up looking for you. What the hell?”

“I just had a day out with Mac. He wanted to see London.”

“Are you and Vinn seeing each other?”

I shake my head, unsure of how much Vinn would want his sister knowing about his private life. “I just work for him.”

“Bullshit,” she yells, laughing hard. “You’re having sex. Sofia told me.”

I feel my face redden. “We were but not anymore. He wants to marry Sofia.”

“So much so he was fucking you in the restaurant? Oh my god, do you know what he’s risking by doing that?” She’s still finding the whole thing amusing, and I’m confused by her reaction.

“Are they still getting married?”

Gia shrugs. “More than likely, since neither can really back out. It doesn’t mean she won’t make his life hell, though. Maybe that’s why he’s so desperate to see you—he wants to get your stories straight.”

My heart aches again. Why did we have to end our perfect day to return to this?

“I won’t say anything to her,” I mutter.

“She isn’t stupid. Didn’t he have you on the desk?”

I blush further, nodding. “We ended before that. It was just a moment of madness.”

We both jump with fright when the bedroom door crashes open. Vinn is in my doorway, glaring at me, his eyes dark and angry. “Oh shit,” whispers Gia.

“Get out, Gia,” he growls, and she practically runs to escape.

He slams the door, turning the lock. “I’ve been calling and texting all night, all day. Where the fuck have you been?”

I take a big swallow. “That’s none of your business.”

He moves so fast, I don’t have time to react before his fingers wrap around my throat, and he’s pushing me against the wall. “Where the fuck have you been?” he yells angrily.

I’m not used to seeing this side of him aimed at me and my eyes prickle with tears. His grip isn’t tight, but it’s threatening. He’s mad as hell. “Let go of me,” I demand firmly.

“You think you can just go off radar and tell me it’s none of my business? You took the tracker off your phone!” he shouts.

I shake my head. I haven’t, which makes me wonder who has. “It’s for the best. You shouldn’t be tracking me. I’m not your priority.”
