“My ol’ lady is up there with him.”
Gerry laughs. “We both know who Raven really belongs to. This little show of disrespect to my boss is gonna land you in hot water.”
I pull out my mobile and dial Raven’s number. She cancels the call, and I begin to pace. “If I call Riggs, this will get messy,” I warn Gerry.
He sighs just as a scuffle breaks out behind us. He shoves past me to deal with it, and I grin, taking the steps up to the office. I push the door open and stare at the pair as they pull away. Raven immediately blushes, and Vinn smirks. “Doesn’t this look cosy?”
“We were just—” she begins.
“Let’s go,” I snap, cutting her off. She bites her lower lip, and my eyes bug out of my head. She’s actually contemplating whether she should follow my order or stay here with him. “Now, Raven.”
“You’d better go, Corvo. Now he’s your man,” says Vinn.
“And don’t you forget it!” I growl, taking her by the hand and leading her downstairs. As we pass Ace, I tell him we’re leaving. He’s got his hands full of a brunette’s arse, so I don’t expect him to follow.
We break out into the fresh air, and I take a deep breath. “What the fuck was that?” I yell, and she looks surprised. Passers-by glance our way. “Is he that fucking alluring, you can’t say no?”
“We didn’t do anything, Mac. He leant in to kiss me, and you turned up.”
“Well, I didn’t see you pushing him away.”
“Why are you yelling?” she hisses, glancing around in embarrassment.
“Because you made me look a dick tonight, Raven. You being alone with him, letting him come in for a kiss, it’s fucking disrespectful!”
“Sorry,” she mutters, “I wasn’t thinking.”
I grab her wrist and turn it, forcing her to see my name on her skin. “I did this for you and this is how you repay me? If I hadn’t walked in, you’d be fucking him right now!”
“I wouldn’t,” she protests, but I shake my head in disgust. She’s lying to herself.
“I’m taking you home.”
“My shift hasn’t finished,” she mutters.
“Get on the damn bike, Raven. If I have to go back in there and look at that smug piece of shit, I’ll end up killing him.” She nods, taking the helmet I’m holding out for her, then climbs on behind me. The second she places her arms around me, I relax.
