“Trust me when I say that excitement will soon vanish. The ol’ ladies are hitting the town tonight, and we get the wonderful job of making sure they’re safe at all times, they don’t get too drunk, and they return to their men in the same condition they left them in. It sounds easy, but it ain’t. Leia is the ringleader, and she’ll cause us trouble all night.”

“What’s the story with Raven?” asks Ace, and my ears prick up as I load more boxes.
Chains laughs. “You don’t stand a chance. She’s like you, doesn’t wanna settle down, doesn’t want kids and marriage. She’s even started to get in on some of the club business. She’s more like a brother than an ol’ lady.”
“Is she a lesbian?” Ace asks, and I slap him upside the head.
“Just cos she don’t want kids and marriage, don’t make her a fucking lesbian,” I snap. “And actually, lesbians can have those things these days. Don’t be such a cock.”
“I was just asking,” Ace retorts, rubbing his head.
“She’s straight,” says Chains with a wink that tells us he knows from personal experience.
