She sits on the table.

“I should wear gloves,” she says.

“I don’t have any diseases. Plus, we already had sex. We’ve swapped enough fluids.”

“Don’t say swapped,” she says.

I watch as her face turns very serious.

I can see the passion in her eyes. Not for me. But for the idea of something medical related. It’s like she has a switch. It’s very sexy.

She touches the towel on my face and I move my hand away.

Gently, she peels the towel back.

I notice how much blood is on the towel.

She places the towel next to her on the table.

“Okay, let me just dab the area…”

With her left hand, she reaches for a disinfectant wipe.

She moves smoothly. Clean.

When she touches my face, it burns like hell.

“Sorry,” she whispers.

“No worries, honey.”

I feel her cool breath as she blows on the wound.

“Well, the bleeding has slowed,” she says. “It’s not gushing now. I’m pretty sure the water hitting your face made it seem worse too. Now the stitches… well… I think they’re all intact…”

She reaches for a fresh wipe and cleans the wound some more.

I swallow hard.

“Sorry, Jax. I have to get it as clean as possible to see…”

“Whatever you need to do, Mila. I’m fine. I’m just happy you don’t have a pair of scissors in your hand.”

She pauses and looks at me. “Really?”

“You know that was insane.”

“I don’t want to talk about that. Ever.”

“I’m going to have no choice but to bring it up for the rest of our lives,” I say.

What the fuck did I just say that for?

Did I just imply… the rest of our lives… together?

Hey, maybe we’ll end up as good friends.

Like I am with Willow.
