Ward’s eyes light up.

Of course he likes this side of me. I’m matching his insanity with partying and drinking. And why not? What else is there to do?

“Carry me,” I call out and jump.

Ward catches me.

I throw my head back and laugh.

I take a big gulp of the magic punch.

My throat and stomach are on fire some more.

It’s so disgusting, yet so good.

Ward turns and starts to run through the frat house.

“Pool!” Ward cries out. “We’ve got a swimmer!”

I gasp… panic hits me…

He takes me outside.

There’s a chant of pool! kicking up.

I wiggle out of Ward’s arms.

I’m standing next to a pool.

There’s probably fifty people staring at me.

I look at Ward. “Swimming with me?”

“Where has this version of you always been?” Ward asks.

I stumble a little closer to him. “Confusion, Ward. Fucking confusion.”

“What does that mean?” Ward asks.

I let out a playful scream and reach into my pocket to quickly toss Ward my phone before I jump into the pool.

Fully clothed. Drink in hand.

I hit the water. I sink for a second.

I pop back out of the water and scream again.

Everyone is cheering for me.

So this is what a stupid college party is like? You just drink yourself into doing dumb things? For some cheers? That’s it?

One thing I know for sure… no matter how much I drink, I don’t feel any better about life.

I swim to the edge and climb out of the pool.

Regret hits me but I have to shake it away.

I’m here to party! I’m here to forget!
