“Given the fact that she’s seen your naked orgy picture, can you really blame her?” Damian questioned.

“I suppose not,” I agreed reluctantly. “If I were her, I’d probably set a limit to how involved I wanted to be with me, too. In her eyes, I doubt I’m a very good candidate for anything long-term. Given my past behavior, I guess I’ll take whatever I can get.”

“Maybe you should just take things slow and be consistent so she has time to realize she can trust you. It’s not like you’re ready to make a commitment, either.”

“I’m making pancakes here, remember?” I grumbled. “Even though I have an obscene amount of money and could have very easily ordered a spectacular meal for her.”

“I have to admit, that’s definitely a warning sign,” Damian told me, his voice ripe with amusement.

“Why do I feel like you’re enjoying the fact that I’m suffering?” I asked.

“I’m not, really,” he said. “I’m just happy that I’m not in your position anymore. It isn’t as though I don’t sympathize.”

I wasn’t completely sure that was true. He sounded too damn happy to be capable of empathizing, but there was nobody who deserved a fantastic woman who adored him more than Damian.

“No worries,” I said. “As you said, I’m not as anxious as you are to make any kind of commitment. Maybe it’s better if we just stay…friends.”

I wasn’t sure if those words were meant to convince my brother or if I was trying to reassure myself that I could stick to Kylie’s terms without wanting more.

Honestly, I had a feeling that the only reason I’d be able to walk away was the fact that Kylie Hart deserved a man without a history of being a total wanker.

And that guy definitely wasn’t me.
