Damon runs his thumb along my jaw, his gray gaze warm on mine, and grins. “Go ahead and run. There’s nowhere you can hide that I can’t find. You can trust me to chase you. So, go ahead and run. Besides, I think it’s cute you think you can get away from me.”

I can’t stop the broken, damaged, insecure part of me from saying, “It’s not like our deal is permanent.”

Damon reels back like I slapped him. “The fuck it’s not. You married me.”

I bite my bottom lip, testing a little more. “We can get divorced?”

His laughter shakes my entire body as he struggles to breathe. There are tears in the corner of his eyes, he’s laughing so hard as he pins me beneath him. I hiss, mouth falling open as he slides his hard cock into me.

He cups my cheeks, tracing his thumbs along my temples, and smiles at me. “Good luck finding a lawyer or judge that will release you from me. You’ve been mine since the second you signed those papers.”

I grip his legs with mine to keep him from distracting me. There’s one thing left. The secret I held from him. The one I didn’t think would matter. “You might not mean that once I tell you this.”

He frowns, kissing between my brows. “Not possible.”

“After what Thomas did, there was an infection. I was pregnant, and…I lost the baby.” I swallow hard at the look in his eyes and shield myself for the next part. “I can’t have your kids, Damon.”

He searches my face, the crease between his brows slowly smoothing out. “Okay, so we won’t have kids.”

“Don’t you want kids?”

“Sure, but only if it was with you.”

“But…but you’re the heir. You’re supposed to carry on the lineage and all of that.”

That earns me another laugh. “I have three brothers. I’m sure one of them can handle it.”

The swell in my heart is nearly overwhelming.

“I love you.” My words rush out before I can stop them.

Damon growls into my neck, sending shivers through me, and lowers until his weight is pressing me into the mattress. “I’ve been dying to hear those words come out of your mouth since the first time I saw you and couldn’t stop myself from pissing you off. I should punish you for making me wait so long.” He bites my neck, and his breath comes out hot against my ear as he says, “I’ve loved you longer.”

Damon thrusts forward, his cock hitting a new angle, and the air is pushed from my lungs as I realize exactly what he has planned for my punishment.

It’s hours later, my head resting on his chest, too tired to move. “How did you find me?”

He twists my bracelet. “I never lost you.”

Chapter 51

Misty

I hit the snooze button on my alarm when it buzzes on my nightstand and let Damon pull me back under the fluffy covers. I bury my face into the fabric, but the bright sunlight streaming in my window tells me it’s not the first time I hit it. We’ve been holed up in our apartment for two days since Damon found me at the hotel, fucked my literal brains out, and brought me home.

I turn into his chest, running my finger along the lines of his tattoos, and just breathe him in. “I need to see her.”

“Cancel,” he mumbles into his pillow, arm not loosening. He’s being adorably defiant.

Laughing, I attempt to peel his arm from around me. “Let go. Sidney’s leaving today. I have to go.”

I squeal with laughter as his fingers dig playfully into my side, tickling my bare sensitive skin.

“Mercy. Mercy!” I squirm away from him, but he just rolls me under him and brackets my head with his forearms.

I stiffen. “Wait. Are there cameras in here?”

Damon runs his nose along mine. “Not yet.”
