“It doesn’t matter now, does it?” he chuckled. “Tell me. How do you want to die? As I watched them lower my brother into the hole, I imagined burying you alive in an insulated coffin.” He turned to look at her as he held the sword up to the light, watching the reflection bounce off the blade. “You would wear that coffin well.”

“Boy, you don’t scare me. You haven’t even had your feet wet yet,” she said. “You’re not going to kill me. You’ll have one of your minions do it.”

“Why wouldn’t I be the one to kill you?”

“You’ve never iced anyone,” she replied. “You’re just a little boy playing with toys.”

Admittedly, this was his first opportunity to prove himself a DeLuca. He came in ready to do damage, which he did. Obviously, she hadn’t seen him earlier as he took out several of her men. She’d been busy in combat with Neeky.

“You see, that’s the difference between us. I don’t make my men do all the dirty work. That would take the fun out of everything.”

“You better kill me now, otherwise I’ll come after you and everyone you love.”

“With pleasure. You see, I want to smell your blood as it oozes from your body.” As he said the words he beckoned for the men and Neeky to step aside. “Nighty night.”

With that he made one smooth swipe of the sword, which sliced cleanly through the neck, severing it. As her body twitched and fell backward, blood gushing like a spring from the earth, her head fell and rolled several feet. Neo picked up the severed head and brought it to his face, sniffing the blood dripping from it.

“I knew I’d love the smell of the enemy’s blood. So sweet.”
