“Tunny, I know you want revenge, but the best revenge is when they kill each other, and you get to clean up the bodies. Come have a ginger beer, it nice and refreshing.”

Neo

Dropping to the ground I fired several shots hitting several men. My aims were precise, and no bullets were wasted. More gunshots were heard outside the premises and around the community and I assumed that the Kings were engaged in the battle as well.

Neeky had successfully taken down a few men and had gone out back. That concerned me and I was of two minds whether to follow her or not. Movements in the dark gave me a pause. Were these the Kings or from one of the two gangs? Uncertain, I stood like a statue until I made out a figure in one of Uncle’s signature baseball caps with tiny piece of neon Velcro stuck to it. It was a King. I moved to him and pulled him behind the sound box.

“Listen,” I whispered. “I want Rusty alive.”

“I know man.”

“Where’s Uncle?”

“Papa Robert is out front.”

The Point Blank gang gave us a good fight. Men ran in all directions as shots were fired dropping them like flies. Rusty and a few men dived behind the bar while we took out the others. The gunfire slowly ceased, and the night became silent.

Three Kings stepped from the shadows and the one with me and I dragged Rusty and two of his men from behind the bar. When he looked up at me, his eyes widened.

“Who is you?” he asked.

“Something out of your nightmares,” I smirked.

Slowly the other kings showed up with Uncle and Neeky. Only a few of our men were injured. Some of the Hot Dawgs survived and were getting treated by the ‘district physician’. He wasn’t a real doctor, but someone who knew how to care for gunshot and knife wounds, and broken bones. If the gunshots didn’t lodge in vital organs or bones, you were in good hands.

“Tie them up,” I told the Kings. Then pointed at Rusty. “Gag him and put a bag over his face.”

They moved quickly to my instructions. We left the community and returned to Constant spring, taking Rusty and leaving the others for Hot Dawg or the police to deal with. Our journey was quick, getting there in less than fifteen minutes without the daytime traffic. When we arrived at the house, we locked him in a room for the rest of the night.

“That’s it?” Neeky inquired.

“I’m sleepy, I’m going to bed. Coming?”

She shrugged without further questions. “Yeah, I’m coming.”
