Chapter 4

Neo

Plans were changed now that we discovered that Dog Blood was Rusty’s enforcer. It wasn’t hard to figure as Uncle had the bodies dumped behind the police station. The discoveries the following morning caused an uproar, with the news team front and center of the fracas.

Breaking News: “According to the police spokesperson, Manson Henry, otherwise known as Dog Blood, was wanted by the authorities in relation to crimes committed in the parishes of St. Catherine, Kingston, and St. Andrew. It is alleged that he’d been responsible for several murders, robberies, and rape in these communities. He was also alleged to be a member of the Point Blank Gang, a faction which is led by the notorious and elusive Nathaniel Bailey, a/k/a Rusty *bleep*. We will have more details in the evening news at 7pm. I am Cory Wright.”

“Let’s skip this joint, my boy. Rusty Cock is on to us,” Uncle said.

I clenched my jaw and felt my teeth ground together. “Grrrrr!”

I punched the air and let out a frustrated sigh as I stared through the window and contemplated cracking Rusty’s neckbone. The thought of breaking every rib, his jawbone, hands, feet, and fingers energized me. I could hear his bones snapping to my will and his screams, I almost had a hard on because of it.

“No use getting angry. We just need to plan carefully. You see, Rusty is a contracted killer. He’s not the main target.”

I whipped around to face my uncle. “What do you mean?”

“I get the feeling this wasn’t random. These gang members are mercenaries for hire. Unless it’s a war they don’t bother people like Neeky’s parents.”

“So, what do we do now?”

“We leave this place to regroup. The Kings are on their way to the hideout. I know you said you wanted to take on this mission without the boys. The previous plan wouldn’t have gone well with my boys, but now we’re under attack. We need the Kingston Kings on the offensive.”

With a shake of my head, I agreed. Now we knew for certain that Rusty Cock was involved, it wouldn’t be long before we know who was behind the deaths and why. I was prepared for anything now that they attacked first. As far as I was concerned, all bets were off. The only reason why I wasn’t out searching for Rusty myself, was that I wasn’t familiar with the territory, and I learned from my previous mistake with my parents’ kidnapping.

We gathered what we could and dumped them into Uncle’s truck. He’d gone back inside to check for anything we missed when a motorcycle pulled into the yard. I ducked behind the truck and pulled my Glock while I kept my eyes on the tall figure which slid off the seat. They pulled off the helmet and semi-dark chocolate skin glowed in the mid-morning sun. She was as beautiful as spring flower in a meadow that was sprinkled with dewdrops.

I rushed from behind the truck and stuck the gun into my waist. “Neeky!” She walked past me. I reached out and grabbed her wrist. “Neeks.”

She pulled her hand away and pointed a finger at my face. “I’m still mad at you.”

“I know, but at least you’re back.”

“I’m here ‘cause I want to make sure Papa is okay, is all.”

I smirked. “And me, right?”

“Don’t flatter yourself.”

Gripping her hand again, I pulled her up to my body. My other hand came up and my fingers curled around the back of her head. She tried to get away, but I held her tightly and bumped our foreheads together.

“You listen to me, you’re my woman and I am your man,” I said in low but serious tone. “You don’t get to run away every time we have an argument or disagreement.”

“You don’t tell me what to do,” she argued. “I’m my own person.”

As she opened her mouth to protest, I covered it with mine, plunging my tongue inside her mouth in a demanding kiss. I released her hand and slipped my arm around her waist, pulling her closer. She struggled against me as I intensified the kiss. I pulled back a second to look into her eyes before sealing our lips once more.

“Ahem!” We pulled apart to see Uncle walking towards us with a bag. “Get a room, you two.”

“Papa, are you okay?” Neeky ran up to Uncle, resting a hand on his arm. “Are you hurt?”

He smiled. “I’m fine, girl. How come you’re here?”

“I was on my way back when I heard about what happened.”

“Girl, stop lying, you didn’t go nowhere. You’ve been hanging around this whole time.”

She tried to deny it while giving me a coy look, but Uncle wasn’t buying it. We joked around for a bit as uncle drove away from the yard. Surprisingly, we didn’t go far. Uncle took us a few miles out of town to change the truck for an SUV and we returned to the neighborhood about a half mile away from the first cottage.

That night, a few of Uncle’s men showed and left early the following morning. None of us got any sleep as we planned on how to make the next move. We knew for certain that this was the work of Rusty Cock, but we wanted more information. Such as who Rusty worked for, because we knew that these hired guns had someone with wealth and power behind them.

We didn’t know the extent of Rusty’s gang and we already knew that he had spies everywhere. Even Uncle was wary of some of his men and only confided in a few about our plans. The Kingston Kings were Jamaica’s form of the Italian mafia. They were bonded through an oath and if anyone was caught breaking that oath, he’d be put to death.
