“I’ll order in more food,” Madi says in that smooth, capable voice that gets my dick harder than stone.

I have to lock my jaw to keep the growl of desire from issuing from my throat.

The punishing hours I inflicted on my employees have been even worse for me. Not getting out to run my wolf in the Berkshires or even to spar with Darius at the gym has left me even more out of control than I was going into this week.

Even if I was the kind of dick to leave his team working late hours while out enjoying myself, I’m now incapable of leaving the building while Madi is still in it. And she refuses to leave until I’ve dismissed the team each night.

The only thing that takes the edge off is ordering her into my office and locking the door. Getting her on my desk or against a wall.

My executive team is pissed at me for not getting rid of her. I don’t give a fuck. She is necessary to the Moon Co operations. That’s what I keep telling myself.

It’s not like I’m going to mate her. Even if I wanted to, I can’t. The destruction that would bring on the pack, the danger that would put all of us in make it impossible.

Forty-five minutes later, Madison enters the conference room pushing a catering cart.

“Thank God it’s not more pizza or sandwiches,” one of the analysts mutters.

Madison sets out the aluminum catering trays.

“Smells delicious. What is it?” Another one gets up to help her, which makes me want to tear out his throat.

“Thank you. I thought since we’re so close, you deserved a real dinner tonight.” She uncovers two of the trays at once.

Eagle chokes on the Perrier he was drinking. It’s trays of…steak and lobster?

My naughty, naughty assistant. Is she trying to earn a reprimand?

“Thank you,” Noah says, and I have to rip my collar open. Did she order this banquet for him?

Madison smiles at him and signs something. My wolf goes ape-shit.

He chuckles, signing in return, but when he darts a look at me and sees my murderous expression, his smile vanishes, and his gaze snaps to his laptop.

I force myself to wait until Madi finishes unloading the cart, then I walk out of the room. “In my office,” I say in a low voice as I pass by her.

“Of course, Mr. Blackthroat,” she intones.

I’m almost blinded by jealousy, but I somehow make it to my office. The moment she enters, I lock the door and pin her against it.

“What did you say to him?” I growl.

Her eyes widen with genuine surprise. “What?”

“To Noah. What did you say?”

Two bright spots of color appear on her cheeks, and her brows drop, but characteristically, she smooths her face and adopts a professional tone. “I said we may as well eat well if the Big Bad Boss is keeping us here all weekend. It was a joke. I’m sorry.”

“You don’t sign to him again. I don’t want you flirting–”

“Flirting? Are you nuts?” she breaks character, her real irritation showing through now.

“New rule–don’t talk to him again. You work for me. Was that food for him?” I’m being irrational. I’m totally out of control, but I can’t seem to dial back my possessiveness.

Madi stares at me, eyes wide. “You’re jealous?”

I stare back. Having Madison’s body up against mine soothes my wolf. Her scent evens my heartbeats. My brain starts to come back on line.

“Wow, Big Bad. That’s totally inappropriate but, um, kind of hot.”
