She stands there, hiding her small body behind Arie’s tall figure.

I dismiss my flight attendant with a curt, “You may go.”

Arie gives a huge exhale. “Thank you, sir. And again, so, so sorry for the oversight.” Arie strides away.

Now, it’s just me and my pretty new toy. She’s got her hands wringing together. Her teeth sink into her bottom lip. Still dressed from the club, a tiny little tight black dress with tall heels, that she’s now shifting her weight from foot to foot on.

I wait for her to fill me in on exactly what she’s doing on my plane. She looks as if she’s waiting to decide if she’s going to give a swift kick to the family jewels and take off running. I cross my arms over my torso, giving her a hard stare that makes her start to tremble.

Finally, she speaks. “I—I fell asleep.” She shoots me a sheepish grin.

It’s an adorable little smile, but it does nothing for me. I’m beyond angry, my temper heading into the red zone. All I can think is, first my dad and now…

This.

A curvy, curly-headed blonde, pretty brown eyes lined with long dark lashes, cheeks flushed, teeth sinking into her bottom lip as she stares up at me. Her dress has risen up her thighs. Aware of my heated gaze, she quickly tugs at the hem.

“What do you mean—you fell asleep?” I demand.

“I—um, I was supposed to board my boyfriend’s jet but I think I got my planes mixed up. I was waiting for him and passed out—”

“You thought you were on your boyfriend’s jet, yet you fell asleep hiding in the attendant’s cargo area where they store the drinks?” I ask.

“Well, you know… I’m a simple girl. Simple tastes. Hard to find my way around this place when I’ve never even flown coach.” She gives a nervous giggle.

“What’s his name?” I ask.

She eyes me. “Who?”

“Your boyfriend.”

“Oh!” She bats her lashes, smiling up at me as she thinks, before suggesting, “Mr. Bachman?”

We’re all Mr. Bachmans. She’s quick. Tricky. I almost laugh. But I don’t.

I’m still pissed.

“I have a family emergency. I don’t have time to delay my trip to deal with you.”

“I’m so sorry I’ve kept you,” she says as if she’ll just tiptoe away. “I’ll just be on my way.”

“Not so fast,” I say. “Unless you plan on jumping out the emergency exit. You got a parachute on you I can’t see?”

Her face blanches. “We’re already in the air?”

“Heavy sleeper?” I take a step forward. “We’re on our way to Greece. And there won’t be any pitstops.”

“Greece?” She takes a step back. The full weight of her mistake finally hits her. “Oh no. I… um… gosh. God. Jesus.” She glances up toward the heavens.

“You stepped foot on the wrong plane, angel,” I say. “Sweet baby Jesus can’t help you now.”

“I didn’t know…” She continues to back away from me.

I move toward her, a predator stalking his prey. “I think you did.”

I grab her arm and pull her into the private chamber. Shut the door and lock it. I press the button, allowing the blinds to rise over the large window, revealing the black night sky. For a moment, our eyes meet in the reflection of the window.

“You’ve gotten on the wrong plane,” I say to her reflection. “And you’ve lied to the wrong man. And now, you’re going to be punished.”
