Orion’s breathing became shallow, and then he turned to face Duncan.

“Mmm. I can just imagine you riding my dick,” Duncan said to Orion. “I want to see you bouncing on it.”

Then Duncan took Orion’s lips in a kiss that had Izel panting. The kiss was low and restrained as Orion seemed to melt into Duncan.

“Hey, you three,” Beckett called out. “Get your asses in the car.”

For a brief second, Izel was ready to vanquish Beckett to the afterlife for interrupting them. Reluctantly, he pulled back, allowing Orion to escape.

Orion rushed to the street as if hellhounds were on his ass.

Duncan chuckled. “That was interesting.”

Izel agreed. “My dick is so hard it hurts.”

“Poor baby.” Duncan walked toward the street, as if his nudity wasn’t an issue out in public. His strut was sexy, and all Izel could do was stare at the guy’s nicely rounded ass.

Duncan looked over his shoulder. “You coming?”

Izel wished. He waved his hand to dress the cheetah. With a sigh, he followed them and then stopped. He’d seen cars, but he’d never ridden in one. Duncan stood there, holding the passenger seat aside. “Get in.”

With a nod, Izel climbed into the back seat, glancing around. Duncan got into the passenger seat, and then they took off. Izel gripped the seat in front of him as Beckett sped through the streets.

“You might want to slow down,” he said to Beckett. “I don’t want to have to reap any of you.”

Beckett glanced at him in the rearview mirror as the car slowly decelerated. “You’re a killjoy,” he said.

“It’s part of my charm.” Izel glanced at Orion, who was seated next to him. His mate seemed to be inside his own head, staring out the window. He touched Orion’s arm. “Did we scare you back there?”

Orion turned and looked at Izel. “Huh?”

“In the alley. The three of us?”

Orion bit his lower lip. “I’m just thinking about everything that’s happened so far. I need a drink, or ten.”

Izel gave Orion a soft smile. “At least you don’t have to worry about killing your liver.”

“What does that mean?” Orion asked. “Are you referring to what Duncan told me about not getting diseases? I thought he meant an STD.”

“When you mate with us, you don’t have to worry about dying from any human diseases, including killing your liver.”

Like the heart attack victim Izel had just reaped. A lifetime of bad eating habits had been his downfall, along with large consumptions of alcohol. He would never understand why humans, who knew about the bad choices of food and alcohol, still consumed them. It was as though they were daring death to claim them.

Izel glanced toward Duncan, looking at the back of his mate’s head. “You’ll possess that ability from Duncan.”

“What will I possess from you?” Orion asked.

Izel wasn’t sure since he’d never heard of a reaper mating. Jaden had, but it wasn’t as if Izel was privy to the guy’s life. “I have no idea.”

It felt as if Izel’s emotions were trying to resurface when Orion took his hand. “It must suck to only exist to reap souls. How lonely that must be.”

Izel slid his thumb over Orion’s soft hand, focusing on the contact. Before he’d discovered Orion in that hospital room, Izel hadn’t been touched since Jaden had saved him.

He swallowed roughly, looking into Orion’s hazel eyes. “It’s not an existence I would wish on anyone.”

Orion scooted a little closer and then rested his head on Izel’s arm. Izel closed his eyes, feeling a warmth flow into him. He leaned his head back on the seat, reveling in the peaceful moment, wishing it would never end.
