“Do we need to go get him?” Duncan asked. “I’ll bury whoever is causing him pain.”

God, how had Orion gotten so lucky when it came to mates? “We can’t leave town, remember?”

“You want me to send my brothers?” Duncan asked. “They’d do it. We can’t stand anyone being hurt, especially someone who can’t protect themselves.”

Orion shivered when he thought of when he was in the hospital. The powerful men who’d shown up, pissed that Marvell had come there to finish the job.

It seemed some preternatural were true warriors. Marvell hadn’t been, but Orion’s mates were stand-up guys.

“If he has any problems getting to my house, I’ll take you up on your offer.” Since Orion didn’t know what Austin was going through, he didn’t want to send lethal shifters, especially if the situation didn’t call for such drastic measures.

“Just let me know. By the way, you might want to go home and pack a bag.” Duncan hugged Orion to him. “Since we have to stick together, there’s no way I’ll be able to rest with you not under the same roof.”

That made a lot of sense. Orion’s mom had said she was going to loosen her noose, but he still had to give her a reason why he would be gone for however long it took to take care of their problem. She’d been cool with him being gone last night and about one more night, but she might pitch a fit about Orion being gone longer. Even though she’d said she was going to back off, he could tell she was still scared about him being out of her sight for too long.

“I might need your help coming up with an excuse of why I’m packing a bag.”

Because Orion couldn’t think of a good enough reason to ease his mom’s worries.

“We’ll ask Izel to help us think of one when he comes back.” Duncan nuzzled Orion’s neck. “In the meantime, what do you say to getting your clothes peeled off?”

Orion’s heart raced. “But Izel is supposed to serenade us while you two get me naked.”

Was he stalling? Orion wasn’t sure, but there was no reason to turn Duncan down.

“It’s okay to say no.” Duncan pulled back. “I’m not the type of guy to lose his shit because he can’t get any ass.”

Orion chuckled, touched that Duncan was so considerate. He stood, turned, and slid onto Duncan’s lap as his mate spread his arms to let him sit. Then Duncan curled his arms around him.

“Does this answer your question?”

Duncan’s smile was so gorgeous. “Either you just want to cuddle or you want to ride my cock. I’m good with either choice.” He nuzzled Orion’s neck again. “Though I’m really hoping for the ride.”

“I just bet you are.” Orion tilted his head to the side to give Duncan more room. “There’s just one problem.”

“What?” Duncan glided his lips across Orion’s neck.

“We still have our clothes on.” Orion’s eyelids fluttered closed as Duncan pressed his soft lips to his ear.

“Then we better solve the problem.” He nipped Orion’s earlobe, sending a riot of shivers through him.

His mate leaned back long enough to pull Orion’s shirt over his head, tossing it aside. Then, with one hand, Duncan yanked his own shirt off. “Better?”

Orion smirked. “Kind of impossible to ride your cock if our pants are still on.”

When Duncan stood, Orion clung to him, until his mate turned and placed Orion on his back on the bed. Duncan unsnapped Orion’s jeans, sliding them down, along with his underwear.

“Don’t forget the socks.” Orion narrowed his eyes. “Nothing worse than having sex with socks on.”

“Not a fan?” Duncan grinned.

“A huge turn-off for me.”

Duncan damn near ripped Orion’s socks off. “Now this is perfect.”

“You still have your jeans on,” Orion pointed out.

His mate lowered to his knees. “That’s not important at the moment.”
