“Like in the Bible,” Orion said.

“He was going to sacrifice everyone you love, starting with your mates, in order to gain his freedom. You were going to be the cause of the world’s end, though I think he picked the wrong human to fuck with.” Aldrin looked Izel over. “What your father did was underhanded, and you deserved better, great warrior. May you finally find your peace with your mates.” He lay his hand on Izel’s chest, and Izel inhaled sharply.

“What’s wrong?” Orion asked in panic.

“I’ve helped him get a better handle on his awakening emotions,” Aldrin replied. “I small gift from me to you for what you’ve been through and the true warrior life you were denied.”

“Driving in my lane?” Jaden asked.

Aldrin smirked. “You were going to release him from his obligation anyway. I just cut to the chase. I agree with Panahasi. Izel deserves backpay for his services. He also should know that his mates are now immortal too.”

“Why don’t you just make Duncan’s entire family immortal since you’re taking over my job?” Jaden asked sarcastically.

Aldrin grinned. “It’s already done, along with their mates.” He looked at Cormac. “Your mate will be immortal, as soon as you seal your bond with him.”

Just when Orion thought Aldrin would walk away, he turned to Duncan. “You and your siblings were your parents’ pride and joy. As a mating gift, and because it’s the right thing to do, those who murdered them are now suffering the worst possible fate, even worse than the underworld.”

Orion’s heart ached as he watched Duncan fight back tears. Orion slid his arms around his mate’s neck, hugging Duncan to him as Duncan buried his face in Orion’s neck.

But Duncan wasn’t the only one struggling to contain his emotions. His brothers looked as if tears would fall at any second. Orion wanted to hug them all.

“I love you,” he whispered against the side of Duncan’s buried face. “I love you so much.”

Duncan reached out, and Orion had no idea what he was doing until he yanked Izel against them.

“I love you, too, Izel.” Orion held them both to him, knowing in his heart that he was sent there to heal both men and maybe get a little healing of his own.

“I love you, too. Both of you,” Duncan whispered.

“As do I,” Izel replied.

If Duncan didn’t try to kick Orion’s ass, Orion was going to hug the shit out of Cormac once they were out of this place. He was the only one who didn’t have a mate to console him, but Orion didn’t want Cormac to feel alone.

“As far as what to do with you…” Aldrin walked back over to Coatl. “Killing you will only make another Slayer arise, but at this point, I don’t give a shit.”

Orion’s brows shot toward the sky when Gavril picked up his sword and gutted Coatl, spilling his entrails. “If you didn’t exist, my brethren wouldn’t have become such self-righteous assholes and tortured me for thousands of years.” He spat on the ground.

“It wasn’t Coatl who made them assholes,” a voice whispered in Orion’s head. Aldrin’s voice. “They’re just as corrupt as the other deities. That’s why I ride with the only person who matters to me.”

“Your mate,” Orion said out loud.

Aldrin winked at him.

“Who’re you talking to?” Duncan asked.

“The voice in my head.” Orion smirked. “Get me the fuck out of here. I want my mates and then my mom’s cooking.”

Duncan cursed. “Your mom is currently at my house, if Milly kept her word to Panahasi.”

“She did.” Panahasi threw his hand out and opened a swirly hole. Orion would never get used to seeing one.

“Hilton is calling for me.” Jaden nodded to Panahasi and Aldrin. “Though this has been entertaining, lose my number. I plan on a long-needed vacation with my mate.”

Orion looked at Izel. “Where does Death vacation?”

“Anywhere he wants,” Izel said. “I honestly don’t care since I will be too busy figuring out what to do with the rest of my immortal life.”

Panahasi stood next to the swirly hole. “Anyone needing a way home better get moving. I have things to do.”
