"How did that feel? Be honest."

"It was awkward. A grown ass woman calling a grown ass man Daddy doesn't feel natural."

"I'll give you a pass on the swearing tonight, but I won't be so nice next time," Luca said, scowling at her.

"You asked how I felt."

"I did. I wish you wouldn't use quite as colorful language to describe it. I understand this isn't natural to you, darlin'. I hope it will become that way, though." He gently stroked alongside of her jaw with his palm.

Teagan laid her face into his palm. "I'm scared," she whispered.

"What are you scared of, darlin'?"

"Loving you."

"Why does that scare you?"

"Every man I have ever loved has hurt me."

"I can't tell you that I won't ever disappoint you. There might be times when I fail. I am human. I can tell you that I will always own my mistakes, I will take responsibility for my actions and if I do something to disappoint you, I will make up for it. However, what I won't ever do is betray you, lie to you, or cheat on you. If I hurt you, it would never be intentional, and it would never be deep enough to break our connection. I can promise you that." He never broke her gaze as he made his fierce promises to her.

"I believe you. I'm scared of you changing your mind."

"Changing my mind?"

"About wanting me, loving me. Everyone thinks they love me, and then, one day they wake and realize they never really loved me. They had just convinced themselves that they had, and they leave. They always leave." Teagan couldn't meet his eyes as she spoke. She hadn't vocalized these feelings out loud. She had thought about it often; hell, she had obsessed over it.

"Look at me, darlin'," Luca said gently.

She couldn't. She didn't want him to see the vulnerability in her eyes. She was strong. She didn't show weakness and definitely not this soon in a relationship.

"Teagan Anne, your Daddy has given you an order. Do I need to speak to you while you look at the floor?"

"No, Daddy," she said. It felt a bit better this time, not as awkward.

"I won't fall out of love with you. I don't believe in that; I think it is a load of crap."

"But, I'm unlovable." There. She had spoken the words out loud.

"No. You are not. I am not about to let my little girl lie to herself." Luca's hand went under her chin and tilted her head up until she was unable to look away, her only option, to close her eyes. She didn't. She met his piercing blue eyes with hers.

"You are not unlovable, Teagan. I will tell you that every day until you believe it. You have programmed yourself with a lie, and I won't have it. Understand?"

"Yes, Daddy." Luca dropped her chin.

"Good girl. We'll talk about rules tomorrow, but I promise you nothing will get Daddy madder than self-deprecating talk. That will be punished every time until you stop. Now, it's getting late, and we're both tired. We have behavior to address from today." Luca's firm resolve had butterflies dancing in Teagan's belly.

"We do? Couldn't that wait until tomorrow, too?" Teagan pleaded.

"No, darlin'. I am a believer in meting out discipline in a timely manner. I know you're nervous, Teagan. That is to be expected. I want you nervous. I want you to be apprehensive about being across my knee, or it wouldn't be an affective punishment." Luca stood up, reached for Teagan's hands and pulled her to standing. He embraced her in a brief hug before sitting back down, this time in the middle of the couch. He held out his hands, and Teagan put her cold, shaking hands in his. Moving her to stand between his now spread knees, he looked at her for a moment before speaking again.

"Why are you getting this spanking, darlin'?"

"Because I went into Sleaze's house and set up cameras."

"You snuck into his house, without his permission and behind my back, putting yourself in danger. I can't punish you for keeping things from me because, technically, we weren't together yet, but we are together now, aren't we, Teagan Anne?"

"Yes, Daddy," Teagan said as she looked at the floor between his feet.
