“Do I need it?”

“You might. Who knows when you might want to talk to me?”

“In that case, you’d better give it to me.”

His eyebrows flicker upwards and a smile touches the corners of his lips as he recites his phone number. I don’t have my phone to hand, so I write it down, and he stands and walks away, although he looks back, giving me a wink, just before he disappears from sight, and I sigh deeply, leaning back in my chair.

Maybe working here has its benefits after all…

Lucian’s door opens and I sit up straight as he says goodbye to his latest visitor, shaking the man’s hand before he leaves.

“That’s it for today,” he says, checking his watch. I know already that it’s nearly five and, like him, I can’t wait to go home for the weekend… and my date with Cole tomorrow night.

“I’ve forwarded all your messages.”

He looks down at me. “I haven’t been checking my mail. Are any of them urgent? Or can they wait?”

“Zach Fowler called twice, and your wife phoned three times.”

He rolls his eyes. “Okay. Can you do me a favor and email Zach? Tell him I’m still in a meeting and I’ll call him first thing Monday morning. I’ll phone Shelby now and see what she wants.”

He walks back into his office, closing the door again, and I let out a sigh, quickly typing the email as requested and wondering why he can’t be as solicitous with me as he seems to be with his wife.

Because I can’t make his life a misery, I suppose.

It’s almost time to go home, but before I do, I need the ladies’ room, so I grab my purse and make my way down the hall before Lucian comes out and gives me something else to do.

There are six stalls in the restroom, two of which are occupied, so I take the one at the end, smiling as I close the door and realize the women in the other two stalls are carrying on a conversation.

“He’s going away for the entire weekend?” one says. “Are you sure about that?”

“Yes. He said he’s leaving early tomorrow morning, and won’t be back until late Sunday.” I can hear the disappointment in her voice.

“How can he do that to us? I’ve been looking forward to seeing him all week.”

Us? I lock the door as quietly as I can, wondering what she can mean.

“I know. It’s so unfair.”

I hear a toilet flush and wait until the room falls silent.

“Do you think we could find someone else?” The second woman’s voice is coming from over by the wash basins now.

“Of course we could. Show me a guy who’d turn down the chance to watch us bring each other off and then join in.” I put my hand over my mouth to stifle my gasp. “The problem is, it wouldn’t be the same, would it?”

The other toilet flushes, and I strain to hear as they continue their conversation. There’s something muffled that I can’t make out, but as the noise quietens, I hear, “… had a dick that felt so good.”

“Hmm… I wasn’t thinking about his dick, I was thinking about his tongue. No-one’s ever made me come so hard… or so fast.”

“Do you know, if it wasn’t Cole we were talking about, I could feel insulted by that.”

Cole? She definitely said Cole. My skin freezes and my heart pounds in my chest. It’s not the most common name in the world, but I suppose it doesn’t have to be my Cole, does it?

“Why don’t you call him? Ask if he’ll meet up with us tonight… or maybe Monday?” I’m not sure which of them is talking now, and I don’t care. I just want to know who they’re talking about.

“You don’t think that makes us look a little desperate?”

“Who cares? We are desperate. There’s no way I can wait until next weekend.”
