There’s nothing idle in that… nothing at all.

Livia’s just zipped up her bag when the pizzas arrive, and we go through to the living room, eating there, rather than making Connor get up. Julianne helps him and it’s easy to see how dependent he is on her, and how much love there is between them.

Time is moving on, though, and once we’re all finished, I help Livia clear away the boxes, and collect up her bag, while she says goodbye to her parents.

Connor’s got up in my absence, and he comes to the door to see us off, taking my hand in his when I thank them for their kindness.

“Y—You’re welcome,” he says. “And we’ll see you both soon.” He grips my hand firmly, staring into my eyes. He doesn’t say so in as many words, but I think that’s his way of telling me to take care of his daughter… although I don’t need telling.

I hold Livia’s hand all the way to my car, helping her into the passenger seat and putting her bag in the trunk before I wave goodbye to her mom and dad. They wave back, and then Julianne helps Connor inside the house, and I get into the car beside Livia.

“Are you okay?” I ask, starting the engine.

“I’ll be fine.”

“Sure?”

She nods her head, and I drive away, although I wait until we’re on the freeway before I reach over and rest my hand on her leg. She startles slightly and twists in her seat, facing me. I know I said I wouldn’t make promises, but I have to say something.

“It’ll be okay, Livia.”

“What will?”

“Everything.”

She puts her hand over mine, and I smile. I still don’t know how I’m going to make it okay for her parents, but I know I will.

They deserve it.

It’s late when we get back, but as I help Livia from the car, all thoughts of tiredness are forgotten. All thoughts of everything are forgotten… except for getting up to my apartment as quickly as possible.

I stop to open the trunk, pulling out our bags, and Livia frowns, looking up at me.

“You brought a bag?”

“Of course I did. I told you this morning, I was gonna stay at the hotel. I just hadn’t gotten around to taking it out of my car.”

“Oh, I see.”

She smiles and I close the trunk, taking her hand in mine, and leading her to the elevator.

Inside, I press the button for the penthouse, and then stand, looking down at her. She’s gazing up at me, too, wide-eyed, her lips slightly parted, and I’m tempted to kiss her. I hold back, though. I may be impatient, but I need to get this right, and if I start something now, I won’t be able to stop it.

The doors open and as we step out of the elevator, Livia glances at the table.

“You want to re-live old memories?” I whisper.

“Yes.” She blinks, looking up at me.

“We will… but not right now.”

I pull her into the apartment, dumping our bags, and then lead her up the stairs, opening the door to my room. She’s breathless already, but so am I, and once I’ve closed the door, I spin her around, placing one arm around her waist, while I clasp her chin with the other hand, tipping her head back and kissing her. She comes alive, kissing me back… hard. Her hands wander up my arms, resting on my biceps, and she sighs in to me.

I pull back, looking down at her. “I’m so glad you’re home.” Without giving her time to reply, I reach down, pulling her top over her head, and then I unfasten her bra, releasing her breasts into my waiting hands. Her nipples are already hard and I lean in, biting one, which makes her squeal. I’m in a hurry, though, and I kneel, undoing her jeans and lowering them to the floor, along with her panties. She kicks off her clothes, along with her shoes and now she’s naked, I feel I can slow down.

She’s home at last.

I lift her and she wraps her legs around me, a smile etched on her lips. I know why, too. She loves being exposed like this… or ‘open to me’, as she put it. I love that, too, and I tip her onto the bed, kissing her again, before I work my way down her body, licking and biting on her nipples, and tracing a line of kisses across her flat stomach, until I reach my destination.
