“She was in a swing.”

“I’m sorry?”

He smiles. “Not a child’s swing… a sex swing.”

“What is a sex swing?”

“How can I describe it…?” He frowns slightly. “It’s a device, made up of straps and chains – and cuffs – that hangs from the ceiling. The woman can lie in it, either face up or face down, and the man can adjust the height to suit whatever he wants to do. She’s fully supported by the straps, with her ankles and wrists restrained, and…”

“I get the picture… I think.” I pull away from him, kneeling up onto the bed so I can shuffle backward. “Are you telling me you have one of these things in your apartment?”

He leaps up beside me. “No, of course not. They’d installed it.”

“You’re kidding me.”

“No. I wasn’t very happy about them making holes in my ceiling.” He smiles slightly. “I mean, obviously I wasn’t exactly thrilled that Sadie was strapped into the damn thing and that Austin was fu—” He stops talking. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to say that.”

“It’s okay. I understand. Well… I don’t, because I can’t even imagine why anyone would want to do that, but there’s no need to apologize.” I sit down, crossing my legs, and he does the same, facing me. “What did you do, when you’d finished being shocked?”

“I think I coughed. I made a noise, anyway, and they realized I was there. In all honesty, I’m not sure who was more embarrassed; them or me. But because Sadie was strapped into the swing, she couldn’t do anything, other than stare at me and blush. I suggested they get dressed and join me in the living room. It was fairly clear we were gonna need to talk, but I didn’t want to do it while they were naked.”

“That’s understandable.”

He smiles. “They came out a while later, hand-in-hand, and told me they were in love. They had been for ages, evidently… since before I’d gone away.”

“So, she’d been cheating on you all that time?”

“Yeah.”

“What about Austin’s girlfriend?”

“I asked that question and he said he was gonna break up with her.”

“You mean, he hadn’t already?”

“No. Not that hearing any of that helped… with how it felt, I mean…”

His voice fades.

Oh, God… what’s he saying now?

I didn’t blame Livia for running from me. How could I? I’d been an idiot.

Drew arriving like that really threw me… especially when we’d been having such a perfect time. Okay, so I’d screwed up in the bathtub. I was embarrassed that I’d climaxed so soon, but there was nothing I could’ve done about it. In that position, I was so deep inside her, and just the sight of my cock sliding in and out of her was too much. It was Livia’s reaction that turned something disastrous into something magical. I mean… obviously, I had to explain what the problem was, because she didn’t get it, but once she did, she was so understanding, I fell even more in love with her, if such a thing were possible.

The very last thing I expected was for my brother to walk through the kitchen door, unannounced, and I know I handled that really badly…

I never thought we’d end up here, though.

The fear I felt when I came in here and saw her bag on the bed… it was indescribable.

I knew I couldn’t lose her.

I still can’t.
