“Please, let me out! Let me out!” the girl shouted, banging her fists on the door. “Please . . . I can’t . . . I don’t want to be here. I’ll do anything . . . anything!”

The girl continued pleading, and the workers ignored her as they finished their tasks.

Finally, she crumpled to the floor with a sob.

An older worker stopped in the hallway and slapped the door, startling the girl.

“No use in crying—it will draw more attention. Best to save your energy for the Hunt. You’ll need it, girl.”

“Please,” she whispered. “Can you help me?”

“No. No one can,” he replied before walking away.

I shut off the audio, unable to listen to the Omega’s weeping any longer.

Was this what Brielle’s life was like?

I picked up my comms and called my best hacker.

“Hey, boss,” Gentry said. “Got something for me?”

“I’m sending over a massive file, code black. I need all the recordings copied, viewed, and marked.”

It was always good to have a second pair of eyes, and Gentry was meticulous.

“On it.”

“No one sees these recordings but you. When you finish, we’ll review and it’ll go straight to the Alpha.”

“Copy.”

I ended the call and locked down my computers.

I needed to find Valor before the run.

Chapter 15

Valor

Ezra burst through the door like a living storm.

His granite features looked like they were on the verge of cracking.

“What’s wrong?”

The room seemed to cool several degrees, and my wolf became uneasy at his bond mate’s scent. Something had riled Ezra up in a way I hadn’t seen since the removal of the old Alpha.

“Not here,” he growled.

I instinctively reached through the bond for Brielle.

Our connection was soft and bright—she was safe. My wolf relaxed a fraction.

I jerked my chin toward the hallway and followed Ezra to my office. I used the space for strategic training and formations, and there were piles of papers and well-loved books scattered around the room.

Ezra’s mouth pressed into a thin line. “How can you work in here?”

“It’s creative.”
