“I can’t do that,” Julian said.

“Why not?” She crossed her arms over her chest.

“Two reasons. One. Rafe is a grown man. He’s a wolf. He’s passed the test. He’s won control. And he’s my beta. But if he needs some time alone, then so be it. A few days ago, he’d talked about going away. He’d needed a break from all this craziness. He’d asked me not to come looking for him. I know he’s going to be all right. I promise.”

“Fair enough. But what’s number two?”

“We’re going to be going away.”

A broad smile broke across her face, her curiosity piqued.

“I’ve seen the wolves,” he continued. “Logan’s taking care of everyone. He knows I have to get some things in order before I get everyone settled in Idaho. I’ve given them a choice. They can go rogue or try to go back to their old packs. The ones who want to come with me will go in a couple of months. I’ve already started building plans for the pack house and acquiring homes. But I want to do something for just us.”

“What’s that?” She shot him a flirty smile.

“We’re going to take a long, very much needed vacation. We’ll plan our home?—"

“Plan our lives.” Cassia’s heart burst with emotion as the Alpha reached for her, pulling her into his embrace.

“I want to know everything about you. What makes you passionate … what makes you happy … what you like to eat. Everything. And for the first time in my life, I’m going to stop running. I want to visit my home. Brazil. Run in the Amazon with you. I want to travel. I have homes all over the world that I never see. We’re going to spend time in them, see the world, make memories … together.”

Tears welled in her eyes. So long she’d been on the run. She’d forgotten what home even was.

“Hey, hey, hey … what’s wrong? Meu amor.” Julian cupped her face, lifting her chin to meet his gaze.

“I … I want you to meet my parents. My family. You’re the most important person in the world to me, Julian. I’ve never felt like this before … never allowed myself to feel it. I …” Cassia hesitated. The three little words she hadn’t said. Her true nature demanded the truth though she was unsure he’d reciprocate. “I … I love you.”

“I love you too, sweetheart.” Julian smashed his lips against hers, sweeping his tongue into her mouth.

Cassia tasted her mate, lost in his kiss. Her beast moaned with pleasure, urging her to shift for him. She’d found her mate, her lover, her Alpha. In her mind’s eye, she heard the call of the wolf.

She tore her lips from his and stepped away, her body thrumming with desire. His hungry eyes painted over her. She looked to the window, the waxing moon beckoning outside. Wolves howled, the Acadian pack, readying to run. She reached for the French doors and opened them to the warm spring Louisiana night.

“Where are you …” Julian lost his words as she untied her robe and stood before him nude.

“I love you, Julian. You wanted to see every part of me, have everything? But I haven’t shown her to you … not yet. It’s time … it’s time to run with the Alpha.”

Cassia released her magick, transforming into a gorgeous white wolf. She shook out her fur and barked at him.

“Meu amor.” Julian fell to his knees, rubbing his fingers through her thick fur. “Are you ready to run with the pack, my beautiful mate?”

Julian stripped off his towel and shifted into his wolf. He pressed his muzzle to her nose, sniffing the scent of his mate.

Cassia released a playful growl, and took off running. As her paws hit the cool ground, she lost herself in the hunt. Hungry for her Alpha, she resisted running too fast, hoping he’d catch her within minutes.

Unsure of where she was, she weaved in and out of the trees, staying on the perimeter of the forest. She ducked behind a log, listening, aware of all the creatures around her. Here, kitty, kitty, she heard her Alpha call. She inwardly laughed, as he teased her.

She’d race him back to the bedroom. Let her mate demand her submission. Come play, big bad wolf.

Cassia took off running once again, the sound of breaking branches close behind her. The light of the bedroom shone like a beacon in the distance. Like a rocket, she shot out of the woods, Julian close on her heels.

As she tore into the bedroom, she leapt on the bed instantly shifting to her human form and rolling onto her back, laughing. Her breath caught as the black wolf stalked into the room. With slow, deliberate steps, her mate prowled up to her and released a low growl.

Her heart raced in anticipation, her eyes wide, awaiting his attack. She gasped as he leapt into the air, shifting back to human. Julian pinned her wrists to the bed, caging her with his body.

“Bad wolf,” he growled, sniffing along her neck.

Cassia moaned, arousal threading through her body.
