Gabe: Are you okay?

Ameline: Yeah, why?

Gabe: I saw Cedric last night. Seems like your mother is back in your lives and it’s not settling well with him. I was wondering how you’re dealing with it.

Ameline: She contacted him, too?

Ameline: Wait, why did he tell you and not me? Why are you asking if I’m okay?

Gabe: Are you done firing questions at me?

Ameline: :scrunched-eyes: emoji

Gabe: I’m not sure what that emoji means.

Ameline: Just answer my questions, please.

Gabe: What were they again?

Ameline: Let’s begin with ‘Where did you see Cedric?’ And continue with whatever he said, please.

Gabe: I saw him at Silver Moon while I was working a shift. Before you ask, my family owns the place. He was pretty drunk. Said his mom contacted him, and wants to talk to all of you. He can’t though—your dad forbade it. So, I’m guessing she reached out to you, too. I just wanted to check if you’re okay.

Ameline: Huh, so it seems like Izzy talked to her, and didn’t tell me. She only lectured me and made me think that’s best to let this go. I feel like somehow she lied to me.

Gabe: Ame, focus. How are you dealing with this? Do you need me to come over?

Ameline: I’m . . . more confused than anything. Izzy told me to ignore the call, not to upset Dad. I’ll text Cee. And to answer your question, I’m coping as best as I can, considering the family drama.

Gabe: Call or text if you need me.

Ameline: Will do. x

* * *

Ameline: Did you talk to Mom, Cee?

Cedric: Yeah, she called me, but we didn’t speak much. My advice is that if she calls, don’t answer. Ignore her, please. Just let this shit go, okay?

Ameline: Why is Dad forbidding us to talk to her?

Cedric: I don’t know, but trust me, it’s best to forget about her the way she did us.

Ameline: What would happen if I don’t?

Cedric: He might stop talking to you. Not only that but he’ll cut you off. No more tuition or studio.

Ameline: He wouldn’t do that. He’s our dad, and he loves us.

Cedric: Sweetie, if you think his love is unconditional, you don’t know him. He’s capable of that and more.

Ameline: Why were you drunk last night?

Cedric: Because like you, I want answers, but I know I can’t have them. I just needed a night to blow off some steam, okay?Don’t worry about me and forget about her.

Ameline: Alright, love you, Cee.
