Gabe: Hey, I won’t be able to get home today.

Ameline: That’s what your mother mentioned when she came to drop off some containers with food that won’t fit in her kitchen.

Gabe: You met Mom?

Ameline: Yeah, no worries. Jude told her I’m your roommate.

Gabe: I wish I had been there to introduce you properly.

Ameline: It’s fine.

Gabe: How’s your mom?

Ameline: They increased the morphine. She’s spending more time sleeping. We decorated cookies earlier today. Well, I did it, she watched.

Gabe: I wish I were there.

Ameline: Why weren’t you?

Gabe: We’re stuck in Boston. Blame Seth for not checking the weather. We leave tomorrow around ten and then have to make a few stops before we arrive in Seattle.

Ameline: So, you’re taking different planes?

Gabe: No, Seth owns a jet, he’s flying us. We’re picking up people, and dropping off others. Making sure Piper gathers everything she needs for her special present. The good news is that we’ll make it on time for Christmas Eve dinner.

Ameline: That’s good right?

Gabe: Yeah. I’ve never missed a Christmas, and I don’t plan to start this year.

Ameline: Oh, I thought you would spend it here, with me.

Gabe: I . . . I didn’t think about that.

Gabe: . . .

Ameline: Hey, no worries. Mom and I will do our thing. You spend it with your family. There’s no way I can wake up at six in the morning to do whatever you people do every year.

Gabe: Are you sure? I can figure out a way to get out of it.

Ameline: I’m totally fine. We usually don’t do much at my house, so there’s not much I can miss.

Gabe: I’ll make it up to you.

Ameline: You don’t have to.

Gabe: Hey, we’re heading to dinner. I’ll text you tonight. Maybe we can have some sex-time.

Ameline: I’ll probably be with Mom. Text or call tomorrow if you can.

Gabe: Love you.

Ameline: Be safe. x
