Resting my forehead against the cold floor, I try to sooth the heat of both embarrassment and… something else… that sears my cheeks.

Once he’s done, he also wraps a length of rope that has one knot on it around my waist and down my stomach between my legs before tying it to my hands behind my back. It doesn’t really restrict me all that much, at least not compared to the other ropes around my limbs, but I’m not about to point that out. Especially not when I’m already this fucked.

Both of my legs are tied with my calves pressing against the back of my thighs, and my arms are trapped behind my back with ropes securing both my elbows and wrists. I can’t stand up. I can’t even sit up. All I can do is wiggle on the floor.

Kaden draws his fingers over the back of my neck, which makes goosebumps break out all over my skin. Then he at last stands up.

I once more try to break the ropes restraining me with sheer force, but it doesn’t work. I’m completely and utterly trapped.

“Do you have any idea how beautiful you are when you’re tied up and completely at my mercy?” Kaden says, his voice coming out darker and a bit rougher than before.

Once again, those two very conflicting emotions heat my cheeks.

I know that, logically, I should only be embarrassed and scared right now. But for some reason, being intimately tied up like this by Kaden has also inexplicably turned me on.

“No,” I reply, remembering his earlier warning that he would spank me if I didn’t answer his questions.

Kaden chuckles, but it’s more of a satisfied sound than a mocking one. “Quick learner. I can’t believe your family has kept such an asset hidden away all this time.”

My heart swells at the unexpected praise. Asset? He thinks I’m an asset to my family?

However, before I can do something as stupid as to cherish that comment, I remember that this is an enemy. Kaden Hunter is an enemy.

“What do you want, Kaden?” I ask, heaving a deep sigh.

“Who says I want anything?”

“You never do anything without a reason, and I doubt you went through all of this trouble just to tie me up and leave.”

Silence falls over the large concrete room.

Panic flutters behind my ribs. Wait, is that what he’s going to do? Tie me up and then leave? Twisting my head and craning my neck, I try to look up at where he is towering over my bound body. But I can’t see his face.

My heart patters in my chest.

He’s not going to just walk away and leave me like this. Is he?

“Kaden,” I begin when the silence continues to stretch. Even I can hear the desperation leaking into my voice.

“Yes, little doe?”

“Please don’t leave me here like this.”

“You truly do know how to pick your battles,” Kaden says, sounding a little impressed. “When to stand your ground because you have a chance to win. And when to beg for mercy instead of spewing useless bluster in the face of certain defeat.” He clicks his tongue. “If only the rest of your family possessed the same intellect too.”

Since I’m not sure how to respond to that, I say nothing.

“How about this?” Kaden continues. “Since you responded so well to my last challenge, I will give you another one. If you can make it to the door, I will untie you.”

I snap my gaze towards the door. When I’m tied like this, the distance feels impossibly vast.

“Done,” I say, because I know that it’s the only deal I will get from this domineering bastard.

One of those cold, smug chuckles that can barely be classified as a laugh escapes his wicked lips.

I just clench my jaw and start trying to crawl across the floor.

Lightning shoots through my veins at the first movement.
