“Two salmon and avocado. Two miso soups. Plus, some edamame beans. Got it,” Leilani said, as butterflies filled her stomach.
Jacob Dufort was heading in today and while she tried really hard to resist his terrible flirting, the truth was she looked forward to it.
Each and every time.
“You might want to be absent when he arrives,” Blake, her boss, said.
Her eyes widened. “Oh. No. That’s okay. I have a lot to get done before the end of the day.”
Blake studied her. “I don’t want you to feel uncomfortable. He’s—”
“A flirt. I know.” She laughed. “I can handle him.”
As she turned away, she heard Blake mutter. “I don’t think you can, but anyway.”
What did that mean?
She’d worked for Blake for a while now. Like his brother, he was a very good-looking man. It had taken her a little while to get used to his tall, muscular presence and blush-worthy smirks.
But he was never inappropriate.
Not like his brother.
Jacob definitely crossed lines, and she was here for it. She found herself wondering each morning if he would be visiting today. She’d choose her outfits, wondering if he would like them, and a couple of times woke up from dreams featuring them.
Let’s just say he wasn’t helping her with the photocopying.
It didn’t take much thinking to know there was no universe where Jacob Dufort would ask her out. First, she was Blake’s PA. Second, she wasn’t a billionaire.
Third...well, she was just Leilani Kai.
