She turned and began to speak but his mouth clasped over her.

Thank fuck.

He’d been wanting to do that for nearly two damn hours.

With a little moan, she tipped her head back, and he deepened it. Their tongues twirled around one another in a delicious dance as their chemistry stirred to life.

“Kissing you is fast becoming my favorite thing.” He groaned.

“Are we...what have you told your family? I’m not quite sure what I’m meant to do. Or be,” Leilani said, casting her eyes behind him briefly to the bed.

So, they were both apprehensive about being intimate alone.

That was interesting.

Jacob reminded himself she wasn’t Jenny, and this wasn’t a date or real relationship. Leilani was here with him to act as a buffer and to enjoy some sexy fun time.

This was why he’d thought it over and over before asking her. Sharing a room, acting like a couple, it wasn’t something he did.

But he wasn’t going to be a fucking girl about it. He would man up and show her there was nothing to worry about.

Then he’d deal with any reactions he had.

“Princess, I fucked you every way possible last week. Don’t tell me you want me to sleep on the floor.”

She searched his face.

“No. It’s fine. I knew we’d share a bed. I just need a frame of reference for what this is when your family asks. Not just fucking,” Leilani said, and his cock hardened.

“Say that word again. I like hearing naughty words on your lips,” he rasped, leaning in to lick her lips.

She tapped his chest, and he liked that, too.

Damn, he liked a lot about her.

“Jacob. Come on. Your family is going to ask questions. What do I tell them? You said dating earlier. Is that our official status? I know you only wanted me here as a support person, but we haven’t discussed it in more detail.”

He frowned, not liking the way Leilani worded it. It sounded like he was just using her, and that wasn’t true. Not completely.

He could have declined his cousin’s invite.

Or he could have come alone and warded off their questions. But he hadn’t. Perhaps he’d even lied to himself about why she was here with him.

“I asked you here because I want you with me. Yes, I have some things going on, but Lani, you are here because I like your company. I like you.”

The truth fell from his lips as he felt his chest clench. Shit, he hadn’t meant to share all of that.

Even to himself.

This is why he preferred other people in the mix. It was far less...confronting.

“Well, that’s nice. Thank you,” Leilani said, the warmth on her cheeks doing something to his heart that was freaking him the hell out. “So, we just say we are dating? If asked.”

Jacob drew in a raggedy breath, trying not to let his old friend fear show. “Sure, princess. It’s probably better than friends with benefits.”

Hurt flashed across her face and he wanted to kick himself.

He hadn’t meant to upset her. But this didn’t need to be so complicated.
