She held up a handful of wrappers. Olivia laughed and took them, tossing them in the trash.

“I was bored. We have a private jet and access to a chopper. Why couldn’t you just look at photos on the internet?”

“Ugh. Men. I am an author. We need experiences and content.” Emma rolled her eyes.

“Well, then write about a guy crossing the country with his pregnant wife, who eats three tons of Cheerios. Then dies of obesity.” Logan groaned.

“Sounds romantic.” Addy laughed.

“It wasn’t,” both Logan and Emma replied, making everyone laugh.

More introductions took place and things started to piece together in her head. So, there were three branches of the family, basically. The three brothers who owned the Dufort Hotels lived in New York and the rest in Philadelphia.

Except for Amelia, who was engaged to a senator, and they lived in Washington DC.

Fletcher leaned his hip against the marble-topped kitchen counter. “Daniel, Harp, Kristen, and Jackson will arrive after dinner. So, let’s get the barbeque started.”

“Where’s Aidan?” Jacob asked.

“He and Lily are flying in tomorrow morning. Same with Amelia and Jack.” Olivia replied, then glanced at her. “You probably know Senator Jack Rutherford.”

Oh! That senator.

Leilani’s eyes widened. “Oh, I remember hearing about it in the news. He proposed to Amelia Dufort.” Then she remembered where she was. Inside the Dufort family. “Amelia. Sorry. You all know her last name.”

Bella and Addy giggled.

Olivia smiled. “Come and help me make some more cocktails. Finally, I’m no longer breastfeeding or pregnant and can drink.”

“Mean.” Bella pouted.

Leilani giggled and shot Jacob a look as he tightened his hold on her hip.

“I’ll be watching you,” he purred in her ear.

A shiver ran through her as she followed the girls to the kitchen.

If she made it through the night without breaking his rules, it would be a miracle.
