“Hey,” I say with a seductive smile. His eyes drop to my mouth only a second before he settles onto the chair next to me.

”What are you doing here?” he asks.

My lips tighten, wondering if Keegan has said anything. “I’m sure you’ve heard.”

“Heard what?”

“That Jared cheated and we’re done.”

Shane’s jaw clenches, and he nods. “Yeah. Fucking idiot.”

I laugh, and the bitter tone isn’t lost on him. “Well, now I’m free. I thought I would have a night out on the town.”

His eyebrow raises. “At my dingy pub?”

“It's not dingy.”

“Right,” he says, shaking his head. He looks down at my outfit with a faint smile. “Keegan warned me you might be stopping by.”

My shoulders slump. “Of course he did.”

Shane takes my empty glass, handing it to the passing bartender and then grabs the seat of my stool and pulls it closer to him. He tucks a loose strand of hair behind my ear and butterflies flutter in my belly.

“He’s actually watching from my office right now. Nosy fucker said I should let you flirt and he’ll come save the day when I eventually screw it up.”

I rest my hand on his jean-clad thigh, my finger tracing down the inward seam. “Why would he think you’ll screw it up?”

Shane shrugs, his thumb caresses my cheek. “I don’t have the best track record with women.”

“You’re doing fine right now,” I whisper, sliding my hand closer to his lap.

He stiffens and grabs my wandering wrist. With an inquisitive look, he leans back. “He’s right, isn’t he?”

“Who?” I pull my arm away.

“You only want to sleep with us to get back at Jared?”

There’s no anger in his voice. Even if were, it would be justified. I shake my hair off my shoulders and roll my neck. It makes me slightly uncomfortable to be asked point-blank.

“And if I am?” I ask.

Shane watches me for a moment, an unyielding stare that makes me want to run. Then he shrugs, his eyes shifting to someone behind me.

Fingers tangle into my hair, twisting my head to the side and a deep kiss is laid on me that takes my breath away. When Keegan lets go, he moves to stand between our stools.

“You start the party without me?”

I push him away from me with a smile, my fingers dragging down his toned stomach. “No, we were actually about to head to my place.”

It takes little convincing to have them follow me to my house. I also trust them to not tell Jared my address. I’m fairly certain at this point those two wouldn’t hand him a glass of water if he was on fire.

Rummaging through my bare fridge, I pull out a half-empty wine bottle and turn to face them. I hold it up and shrug. “This or water, boys.”

Keegan grimaces and pulls out his phone. “I’ll order something to be delivered.”

“Whatever,” I tell him and then take a swig right from the bottle. Setting it on the counter, I roam my eyes over Shane and cock my head to the side. They’re standing in my kitchen, not moving to sit or relax. It leaves an awkward presence in the air, a vast difference from how we were in the bar. “You guys okay?”

Shane’s face flushes, and he glances at Keegan. “Uhh,” he stutters, and scratches at the back of his neck.
