I snorted. “What a fourth-grade way of putting it.”

“I didn’t think you wanted me to say fucking. Besides, you’re the one who just alluded to it instead of coming out and saying it.”

“Valid.” I raised my nearly empty cup to my lips. “What’s your day looking like?”

“I’m meeting Bones and Raze at The Ring.”

“What’s The Ring?”

“The club’s training gym,” he explained.

I set my empty cup aside on the nightstand. “Training? For what?”

“Boxing, MMA, fighting sports in general.”

I flinched as it momentarily reminded me of Knox. “Huh.”

“What?”

“I didn’t take you for a fighting sport kind of guy.”

“I’m not. We’re just going to take care of some club business.”

“Club business,” I repeated. “And that means what, exactly?”

“It means you don’t need to worry about it.”

“Are you always going to use club business when you want to be cryptic and not explain something to me?”

“Yep,” he said.

He got up and stripped off his shirt. Smoke tossed it on the bed and then his jeans and boxers followed. As he strode naked to the bathroom, he looked at me over his shoulder and with a wicked grin, he asked, “You joining me? I’ll make it worth your while.”

Chapter 37

An hour later, freshly showered and with a few orgasms under my belt, I was ready to face the day. I stood at the kitchen counter while Smoke pulled on his leather cut and made sure he had his cell and keys.

“I’ll see you tonight,” he said, resting his hands on my hips and pulling me close. “What are we doing for dinner?”

“We’re going to cook,” I explained.

“I don’t cook.”

I grinned. “But I cook.”

He leaned down to take my lips in a kiss. “I’ll bring the dessert.”

“Hmm. Yeah, I think I know what kind of dessert you have in mind,” I teased.

Smoke chuckled, kissed me one last time, then forced himself to let me go. “All right, cupcake. I better get out of here before I say fuck it and take you back to bed.”

“That wouldn’t be such a bad thing.” I stared imploringly at him.

He groaned. “Stop. You’re making it impossible to leave.”

My phone buzzed on the counter, momentarily pulling my attention.

“Saved by the phone.” He kissed me on the forehead and stepped back.
