“Anything I want?” I asked.

“Anything you want.”

“Even angsty, angry girl music?”

“Even that.”

“I won’t do that to you,” I assured him as I reached for the radio button. I surfed and stopped when I heard a radio personality say, “…a special morning treat for those of you in love with ABBA. That’s right folks, this morning we’re bringing you all ABBA, all hour long!”

I glanced at Smoke who was staring out the windshield.

“Even ABBA?”

He sighed. “Even ABBA.”

“Will you hate your life if I sing along?”

“Depends.”

“On?”

“Whether or not you can sing…”

“I sing okay.”

“Prove it then.”

“I haven’t had a lot of coffee.”

“I haven’t had a lot of coffee either.”

“Fair point. Okay, I’ll sit and enjoy, but I won’t sing. At least until you’ve had more coffee. At least until I’ve had more coffee.”

“I appreciate your thoughtfulness,” he said with a smile as he looked at me. “So, ABBA?”

I nodded. “ABBA.”

“You’re a little young to know ABBA, aren’t you?”

I glared at him. “My parents played them when I was growing up. And the word love isn’t enough to encompass what I feel for ABBA.”

“Explain.”

“Explain my love affair with them?”

“You’ve shown more animation talking about a Swedish music group than when you talk about your ex.”

“ABBA never told me they loved me and wanted to spend the rest of their lives with me and then turned around and fucked another woman.”

His shoulders lurched as a laugh escaped his mouth.

“You know why I love ABBA? Because every song is catchy. Every song gets inside of you and makes you want to dance,” I explained.

“Dance?” he asked slowly.

I straightened my spine and faced him. “Yes, dance. Do I know every word to Super Trouper? Yes. Do I dance to it every single time I hear it? Also, yes. Tavy understands this. Tavy also partakes in this. Tavy understands my ways.”

Smoke laughed again.
