Savage laughed. “I might be crazy, but I’m not that crazy.”

“Good.”

Tavy was off limits, especially to my brothers. They were the kind of men who’d have your back. In battle, there were no better warriors than my brothers. They were family to the end. But that didn’t mean I wanted my daughter to get caught up with one of them.

Even though we weren’t into illegal shit anymore, these were men who lived by different rules and trouble had a way of finding men like that, whether they liked it or not.

My phone chimed in my pocket and I fished it out, a smile drifting across my face.

“You look like a dope,” Savage teased. “What’s got you smiling?”

“The ring came in,” I said.

“No shit. You picked out a ring already?”

“I didn’t pick it. There’s a jewelry store in Sandpoint—a local artist. Logan’s mom sent me a photo of the ring Logan always admires when she’s home for a visit.”

“How are you so fucking thoughtful and shit?” Savage asked.

“I want to make her happy.” I shrugged. “Everything I do, I do for her. It’s easy when I think about it from that point of view.”

“Huh.” He shook his head. “I’m not ready for that kind of commitment.”

I laughed.

“What? Why are you laughing?”

“Because you don’t have any fucking control over it. When the right woman comes along, it’ll hit you like a Mack truck. You’ll fall hard, you’ll fall fast, and you won’t be able to do a damn thing to stop it.”

“This is depressing.” Savage took a sip of his beer and stood up. “Excuse me. There’s a woman out there who hasn’t met me yet, who I’d like to meet, and seduce—just for the night.”

He walked into the house and disappeared out of sight.

I opened my phone and shot a text off to Bones.

Me

Go time.

A few minutes went by and he replied.

Bones

On my way.

“You’re grinning,” Logan said as she plopped down in the chair Savage had vacated.

“Am I?” I lifted my arm and grasped the back of her head, dragging her lips toward mine.

“Ewwwww get a freakin’ room!” Waverly yelled.

Logan laughed and pulled away, her face flushed with excitement.

“No, don’t tell them that,” Tavy said. “That’s my dad and my best friend. Yuck squared.”

“Need anything?” Logan asked.

“I’m fine.”
