He shrugged.

“Lovely.” I wrinkled my nose.

“Don’t worry, babe. I’d never have sex with you where someone could walk in and see us.”

“You’re such a gentleman.” I batted my eyelashes, which caused Bones to grin.

There was nothing sexual between us. He knew it and I knew it. Still, he was a flirt, turning it on high when Smoke was around, which hadn’t been often the past two days.

No doubt he was avoiding me like I was avoiding him.

“Who’s a gentleman?” a younger biker asked as he walked in the front door.

He was tall, blond, and had twinkling blue eyes.

“Me,” Bones said.

“Yeah,” the biker said. “Such a gentleman. Didn’t Angela call you a crass bast—”

“Shut up, Savage,” Bones said.

Savage grinned and waved to me. “Hi. I’m Savage. Who are you, darlin’?”

I raised my brows. Between the testosterone and the flirts, I wondered how women ever kept their clothes on around these men.

Oh. Right...

“I’m Logan,” I said. “Tavy’s friend.”

“Ah, Tavy.” He nodded. “Right. Smoke’s kid. Wait, you’re Logan?”

“Uh huh.”

“But you’re a girl.”

“You should be a detective,” I said dryly.

Bones’ crack of laughter echoed through the room.

Savage smiled. “No, it’s just that Tavy never gave me any indication that her best friend was female.”

“It’s kind of our party trick,” I said in amusement.

Savage wandered over to the fridge and pulled out a beer. “Speaking of parties. There’s a barbecue happening tomorrow.”

“No one told me,” Bones said.

“I just saw Mia at the new space,” Savage explained. “I’m sure you’ll get the text soon.”

“Mia?” I asked.

“Colt’s wife,” Bones said. “The club president’s wife.”

“Ah.” I was familiar with Smoke and his South Dakota boys, and I’d met a few of the prospects, but I didn’t know the other club members or their wives and girlfriends.

My phone buzzed from a number I didn’t recognize. I hesitated, worried it might be Knox. But I quickly shook off the thought when I remembered I’d changed my number. I’d been emailing property management companies and I didn’t want to miss out on a potential apartment.

I answered the phone and got off the couch and headed to the exit for a measure of privacy. Five minutes later, I ended the call. I had an appointment in the morning to see the place.
