“No, I’m not,” I said hastily.

“Oh, you so are.” He let out a deep laugh.

“Okay, so I’m a fan. But not like I know all the rules and cannon of the Star Wars universe. And I’m a diehard for the original trilogy. I don’t know how many movies there are total and I—” I paused. “What?”

“You’re a nerd.”

“I’m not a nerd.”

“You’re a secret nerd. You’re a secret hot nerd,” he said.

“I’m not a nerd.”

“Oh yeah? What color is your light saber?”

“Green, obviously.”

He raised his brows. “And what’s the meaning of a green light saber?”

“Green represents wisdom and skill.” I sighed. “Fine, I’m a nerd. I’ll fly my nerd flag. What’s your secret hot nerd trait?”

“I don’t have one.”

“Everyone has one.”

“What’s Charlie’s?”

“I’m not spilling my best friend’s secret nerd trait. So come on, tell me yours.”

“I told you I don’t have one.”

“You’re not secretly into Anime?”

“Nope.”

“Legos?”

“Definitely not.”

“I know what it is,” I said with a smile. “You’re a cosplayer and you go to conventions.”

“You caught me,” he said lightly. “I’m a cosplayer.” He cut a hole in a piece of bread and then dropped it into the hot, greased pan. After a moment, he cracked an egg and dropped it into the hole. “I’m Gryffindor.”

I gasped. “Harry Potter? That’s your thing?”

With a sigh, he turned and came toward me. He pointed to a spot on his left upper arm that was part of his ink sleeve. I leaned forward to study what I was seeing.

“Oh my God, that’s the Golden Snitch! You got a Harry Potter tattoo?”

He flashed a grin. “It’s okay to admit you’re totally into me now that I’ve shown you my boyish side.”

“I’m totally into you,” I said with a matching grin.

“Yeah?”

“Yeah.”

“Feeling’s mutual, Duchess.”
