“Bones,” I said, lowering my voice.
“Yeah?”
“Your eggs are burning.”
“So for the wedding tomorrow,” Bones said as I walked him to the door, “you want me to come over here and we’ll ride together, or you want to meet me there?”
“Depends. Where is the wedding, anyway? I know nothing about it, not even the time.”
“First Presbyterian. Four o’clock. Party is at the clubhouse so people can drink and crash.”
“First Presbyterian? Really?” I wrinkled my forehead. “That feels…”
“Wrong?”
“Not wrong,” I hastened to say. “Just, surprising. Sutton didn’t seem the church wedding type.”
“Sutton and Viper both had shit childhoods. Nothing was normal. Sutton wanted a church wedding. So here we are, a bunch of bikers going to a church wedding.”
I grinned. “You wearing a tie?”
“The only woman I’ll wear a tie for is you.” He leaned down to kiss me. “Which I’m already doing.”
“A black tie no less,” I said with a smile. “Still can’t wait to see you decked out in your tuxedo. Biker James Bond, maybe?”
“Hmm. Has a nice ring to it.”
“So, I’ll see you tomorrow,” I confirmed.
“Yeah, tomorrow.” He paused.
“Something else you want to say?”
“No.” He drew me to him and gave me a proper goodbye. When he pulled back, I nearly slumped against him.
“You sure you have to go?” I asked, looking up at him through the sweep of my lashes.
“Yeah, I have to go. And I better do it now before I say fuck it all and take you back to bed.”
The tenderness between my legs reminded me of the marathon of last night. I sighed. “I should probably give my body a break.”
He grinned, a self-satisfied cat-got-the-canary-and-the-cream grin.
“Get out of here,” I said with a laugh, pushing his chest.
“You own a pearl necklace?”
“Yes.”
“Wear it to the wedding. And tomorrow night, I’m going to fuck you from behind while you wear nothing but your pearl necklace and heels.”
I quivered. “Oh…”
“And then if you’re good, I’ll give you another kind of pearl necklace.” He chucked me under the chin. “Later, Duchess.”
I closed the door behind him and leaned against it for moment. I didn’t move until I heard the rumble of his bike disappear into the distance. Then I went upstairs and grabbed my cell phone.
There were three missed texts from Charlie.
