Crew grins at us. "Good thing daddy three is home."

He tosses his workout bag to the side and then focuses on the little girl in Michael’s arms.

"Hey Gracie, I was hoping I’d get to see you." He steps closer and holds out his arms. "Come here."

Gracie nearly launches herself at him, clearly desperate to get away from the very mean man who won’t give her cupcakes.

"You’re three?" she asks him.

He looks confused, then remembers calling himself daddy three. "Nope, I'm old. I’m Daddy Three. Our baby is going to have three daddies. One—" He points to me. "Two—" He points to Michael. "Three." He points to himself.

"Should we be… doing that?" I ask.

Crew shrugs. "Normalize it now. We’re right next door. She’s going to figure it out or ask eventually."

"Daddy three," Gracie repeats, patting Crew’s chest.

"Yep. And it's always better to have three of something instead of just one," Crew says. "Just ask Dani." He gives Dani a wink.

I groan. "So now we’ll be in trouble when she starts asking for another daddy because she’s only got one?"

Crew shrugs. "Only with Mark. Marissa would probably be fine with that."

"Crew!" Danielle says, but she’s grinning.

"Mark might be too," Michael muses. "He’s mentioned how it’s tough to keep up with a young wife and two kids. Maybe he needs a helper."

Crew nods. "Think of the shape poor Nathan would be in if he had to handle Dani all by himself. He’d never survive."

I shake my head. "Hilarious. I’m going to handle Dani upstairs right now. For the second time today."

"Hey, it’s not break time," Michael protests.

Dani points at my shirt. "We have to clean him up. And Romeo."

Crew checks me out and grins. "Ah well, I can help you out, Boss. Give Dani a break."

I reach out and grab Dani’s hand and start back up the stairs. "If any other adults need to get naked during clean-up, I pick the hot redhead. You help the little princess there and save Doc."

Crew laughs and looks down at the little girl in his arms. She’s got her head on his shoulder and she might be starting to drift off, actually. "I am starving. Do you want to play restaurant?"

She simply nods. Yeah, she’s tired. Maybe she’ll be asleep when Mark and Marissa get here and won’t tell them about our failures tonight.

"Great. Let’s go get some cheese," Crew tells Gracie.

I tense, waiting for her to yell.

But she says, "Cheese," as if that's the best idea anyone’s had yet tonight.

I look back to see Michael rolling his eyes.

"Perfect," Crew says. "Doc? Do you want to be our first customer?"

"I’m really not in the mood for cheese," Michael says dryly.

"Oh, come on. Cheese is the best," Crew says. "Right, Gracie?"

"Cheese," the little girl agrees.
