I barely had time to take a breath before he was pulling out to plunge back inside me.

I’d never been one for restraints, and after being tied up in Cash’s warehouse, I didn’t think I ever would be. But the feeling of Greyson’s hand holding me, the pressure of his finger against my clit, the furious pace he set as he fucked me into the back seat, sent me flying in no time.

I clenched around him, crying out as I came. It was half pleasure, half pain, but a good kind of pain. A reminder that I was alive, that Grey was alive. That we had survived. It was the type of pain that broke and healed at the same time.

And when Greyson came after me, his fingers bruising my skin, I knew that connection that had bound us together for years was roaring between us, burning out the fear and leaving nothing but love in its wake. We had been broken, but we wouldn’t shatter. And one day, Cash would be nothing but a blip in our memories.

With careful hands, Grey flipped us so he was lying down with me on his chest. He didn’t pull out, and neither of us fixed our clothes. We just lay there and relaxed with soft touches wherever we could reach. We let that connection build between us again, stronger than ever. And with each heartbeat, I felt that shattered part of us heal a little more.

Chapter Eight

Mari

Grey and I walked into the house to find a huge bouquet of rainbow flowers spilling over the foyer table and Dominic glaring at them like they were a ticking time bomb.

“Secret admirer?” I asked, ignoring the ache in my chest at the idea of Dominic moving on. Shitty of me, but he was mine.

Except he isn’t.

“They’re from Cash,” he muttered, waving the little card around.

Grey straightened up, snatching it out of Dominic’s hand to read aloud. “Little Queen, I’m so glad to hear you’re still in the game. My apologies for any damage I caused. I do hope you have a speedy recovery. Round two is just around the corner, and I don’t want you to miss it. Love, Cash.”

He was apologizing for nearly killing me? Joke or not, I was starting to wonder if Cash really was a psychopath.

“He’s taunting us,” Dominic snarled.

I rolled my eyes. “Of course he is. Did you expect anything less?”

When Dominic said nothing, I brushed him and the bouquet off. “Have somebody grab a hazmat suit and take that thing out of here.”

“What?”

“Bag it, trash it, and go sanitize the fuck out of yourself. I wouldn’t put it past Cash to have poisoned the flowers or the card.”

Dominic grimaced, looking at his hands. “I didn’t think about that.”

“Of course you didn’t. You were letting jealousy override your brain cells. Get to it.”

Before he could say anything else to irritate me, I headed farther into the house with Greyson at my side.

“Where are we going?”

“It’s time to tell the lovebirds about their nuptials,” I said, dread sinking in. Cameron would go along with things; he was a soldier. But I was worried about Aislynn. I felt like I was putting her into a corner, forcing her into a life that I’d promised her I would get her out of. I felt like I was no better than her father, and comparing myself to Sean O’Bannon put me in a shitty mood.

We weren’t even to their doorstep before we heard the screaming.

“You can’t tell me what to do, Cameron!”

“Actually, as your future husband, I can and I will. You are not going to dick around the city all day by yourself looking for one fucking flower. It’s not going to happen.”

The dull thump of something hitting the wall made me smile. “It’s not a flower. It’s the dye I need for my wedding dress, but of course, you don’t care. This is just something for you to tick off your fucking checklist. Marry the Irish princess so my boss still loves me. Check.”

I heard venom there—and bitterness. Grey grabbed my hand as the unease blossomed. It felt like I was too close to ruining one of the few good things I had.

“Oh, for the love of God.” Cameron’s frustration told me this wasn’t the first time they’d had the conversation, and again, guilt churned. “What do you want from me?”

“I want you to let me live my life! I didn’t leave my father just to find another jailer.”
