Little freak.

With everything going on, we hadn’t been able to connect as much, and I missed him. I was also grateful that he was around, helping out wherever he could so I didn’t have to be involved in the everyday parts of the business. He slid into the seat next to me, pressing a kiss to my temple before nodding at my cousin.

“Is it done?” I asked.

“We have twenty-four-hour surveillance on the starting location from the GPS. No one in or out without our knowledge.”

Aislynn let out a happy, satisfied sound, and that eased some of my worry that the crash would have long-term effects on her mental health.

“Can I start?” My sigh was enough to make Cameron grin as he walked back to his victim.

“What about Jacob?” The dockmaster’s man had been on my mind since I’d woken up. Not a shock since he was the next resident of the room, but he just wasn’t a priority. Money was important, but not more important than my people’s lives. So, he got to live a little longer.

Pity.

“Still comfortably waiting for you.” Greyson laughed under his breath as my cousin got close to the driver, whispering something that had the man paling. “He looks like he’s losing it, though, so I’d suggest we get to him sooner rather than later.”

I didn’t really have the time to be interrogating someone else, but if Grey suggested it, it meant poor Jacob was much worse than I expected. Maybe Dominic would do it for me. That would go a long way to show me he’d changed.

The first punch rang out with the reward of a pained gasp right after. Shara laughed, and I peeked at Aislynn to find her face flushed. Shara and I glanced at each other and leaned closer.

“Those are some rosy cheeks.” I tried to keep it casual, but Shara didn’t get the memo.

“Are you telling me that the Irish princess gets hot watching her fiancé beat someone up? Because I can respect that.”

Ash was less than impressed. “It’s not the fact that he’s beating someone up—it’s the fact that he’s doing it for me. I’ve never had anybody defend me like that before. To be honest, I could get used to it.”

Dominic’s version of therapy helped a lot, but hearing Ash happy at the turn of events was exactly what I needed. Though, the reminder of his body on mine sent a rush of heat through me, and I had to consciously remind myself not to fidget in my seat. Not that it mattered when Grey’s low chuckle hit my ear.

Fuck. He totally knew I was turned on.

“Shut it,” I whispered.

“I didn’t say a thing. Though I am curious what about this turns you on.”

“Nothing, I was thinking about Dominic.”

The man in question looked over at me, and I hated the greedy smirk that crossed his face, so I flipped him off. His laugh was so light, cutting through the sounds of Cameron’s interrogation with ease. “I’m glad he helped.” With a brief squeeze of my thigh, Greyson leaned back and watched my cousin work.

The questions he asked were simple and easy, things that anyone in Cash’s organization should’ve been able to answer.

Where is he hiding? What does he want? What are his goals? Why did he go after Ash? Who else is a target?

I could barely hear the words over the grating sound of a small drill. It wasn’t smart to use your fists for too long, especially early in an interrogation. The last thing you wanted to do was cut it short because you’d hurt yourself.

Intentionally, yes. Accidentally, no.

I couldn’t see what my cousin was using the drill on, but I wasn’t sure I wanted to anyway. Cameron was creative on a good day, but Ash’s accident had brought something out of him that I wasn’t sure we’d ever be able to put back on a leash.

“Fuck, man. I already said I don’t know anything. She was a job. That was it.”

“A job.” Cameron was obviously unconvinced.

“Yeah, a job. They gave me a cell, told me where to go and what to do, and I got paid.”

“How much?”

“Twenty grand.”
