I hitch my breath. My heart is racing, and all I want to do is climb up and let him fuck me against the wall. A noise comes from the room, and I squeeze my thighs together as I cover my lust with my work face. “I am working all night, Ryan.” I push open the door and walk inside.

“I know that's not true. From 9 o'clock you're mine. You will no longer be organizing this wedding, and you are free to do what you want.” The door closes in front of him, blocking him from my view. Thankfully. I'm not sure what I would have done if he had kissed me again.

I talk to the serving staff and note that everything is organized. That's the thing about venues like this: they are perfectly organized, and I hardly have to do anything on the day. I step outside onto the patio at the back of the hotel, enjoying the sun beaming down on my face. I find a seat and sit down. I can hear the hustle and bustle of the guests as they are having their champagne before the photos are going to take place. Then they will be taken in for their meal and then the evening party after a more relaxed drink in between.

Everything has gone to plan. Ryan has stayed out of my way. I've caught him looking at me with his gorgeous eyes. I always turn away when he catches me looking; he smiles and winks at me. I just want the ground to open up and swallow me whole. How did this become my life? I should have never had a one-night stand in Vegas of all places. But who knew that the guy would be attending a wedding I organized? At least he's not the groom, I suppose. I laugh to myself.

Just then, I hear someone clearing their throat. I turn and see Ryan. He's looking at his watch. “I see it's clocking-off time. I told you I would find you.” He walks over toward me in the corridor where he trapped me earlier. “I think we've met here before.”

He inches closer to me, and I can feel his breath on my face. I can't move. I'm mesmerized by his eyes, and I want to know what comes next.

His lips barely touch mine as he moves in closer. Is he waiting for me to move? I can't. There is so much tension between us, and I realize that I want to know what happens next.

CHAPTER 4

Ryan

I have watched her all day. She’s so professional and I didn't want to ruin any chances she has of future business she might have. But there comes a time when a man needs to touch his woman. I have no doubt she’s mine. I should never have let her run off in Vegas. I should have checked her number. I should have done a lot of things with Lily. I am not going to waste any more time. She's mine and she needs to know it.

After finding her in the corridor, I'm standing with my lips grazing hers. I want her to make the next move, but I'm not sure she will. She looks scared. Like a deer caught in headlights. I look up and catch her eyes looking at mine and that's when I see the twinkle in her eye. She wants this as much as I do. I press my lips harder against hers and I watch as she closes her eyes and savors the moment. It's pure heaven. Neither of us are rushed. She moans and I wrap my arms around her, pulling her closer to me. When my tongue pushes past her lips, she fights me for control. I smile.

I pull away and lean my forehead against hers. “Lily, I've been wanting to do that all day. Did you think about it?”

She nods her head.

“I need words, Lily. If I remember rightly, you were very vocal in Vegas.” I peck her on the cheek. “I loved it before you think I didn't.”

“I know you did because you begged me to repeat myself over and over.” She's thinking about that night and now she's coming out of her shell.

“Do you want to join me for a dance?” I ask as I hear the music change in the distance.

“I'm not sure it's appropriate, Ryan. I planned this whole event.”

“Yes, and now your time is over, so no one will say anything. I promise you it will be okay.”

She nods her head, and I take her hand. It feels just right to have her hand in mine.

We walk into the room and Rory shakes my hand as we walk onto the dancefloor. “Glad you made it right Ryan.”

Lily loops her arms around my neck and my arms slide around her waist until she’s tight against me. “I haven't been able to stop thinking about Vegas, Lily. I can't believe I didn't get your number. I rang anyone I knew and tried to find you, but it was like you were a ghost and you disappeared.”

“I had a plane to catch the next morning, that's why I ran. Not because I didn't want to see you again, but that I wasn't going to be in Vegas any longer and you know that they say about Vegas. I use air quotes. “What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.”

“But you didn't stay. I'm not letting you go this time. I'm going to get your number tonight, even if I have to be sneaky about it.” I laugh.

“I'll give you my number, but you don't live here, Ryan, and I'm not ready for a long distance relationship. I work most weekends because if you didn't know I run a wedding planning company.”

“I kind of realize that, Lily. But I can work from anywhere most of the time. We can make it work. I want to try. Don't you?”

She stares up into my eyes. “I want to try.”

She barely gets the words out before I slam my mouth down on hers, sweeping my tongue inside her mouth and taking what's mine. The music stops and we move apart. I grab her hand and pull her over to the bar. “What do you want to drink?”

“I'm not sure that's a good idea. I have to get home tonight.” She looks up at me and I can see the question in her eyes.

“Lily, you’re not going home tonight and unless you have work commitments on a Sunday then you are not leaving tomorrow, either. Let's grab a drink and get to know each other again. I have commitments here so can't leave until the bride and groom do, but then we are going upstairs.”

We grab some drinks and sit in a dark corner at the back of the room. “Who knew I'd be going to this party instead of just working it?”
