“Shut up!” he screams at me. “Keep going,” he prompts her.

Kevin shuffles back and forth. The way Jessica is eyeing him, ready to pounce, I’ve seen that look when she wants something. The way she handled the wedding vendors was savage. She’s got something we might need.

“Now, if we could loosen —”

“No,” he quickly cuts her off. “You have one chance to tell us what you know, and then we will let you go. I’ll even help hold down Adam.”

She huffs before she finally relents. “Pinkie promise?”

“What are you? Five?” He turns back to me and shakes his head. “Really? This?”

I shrug my shoulders. “Low standards. I’ve since upgraded.”

Wrong thing to say, as his face turns bloodred. He turns back to Jessica, hoping to push this along.

“DuPont’s lawyer wants to take you out,” she quickly states with a smile.

Kevin and I look at each other and then back at her. “I’m sorry, who?”

She looks right at Kevin and smiles. “You, darling!”

He looks at her, confused. “Me?” His finger digs into his chest.

“Him?” I extend my arm out, fully pointing at Kevin.

“What are you talking about? Why me? What for?” His exasperated tone shows this was more unexpected than my abducting him.

“The CIA has been after DuPont ever since your mission went to shit. The entire team is a liability. The lawyer, Jack Bradley, can’t have anyone from that group give up any information. Even if it was as small as the shoelaces you wore. Greg was supposed to turn you all over to us, but he somehow ended up dead.” Jessica looks at me before turning back to Kevin. “You’ve been doing a good job at staying under the radar and I’ve been doing all I can to get more information about the people that were part of your squad, but they keep dropping like flies. Either dropping into hiding, like you, or they’ve been taken care of.”

He nods as if he is still trying to wrap his head around the truth. I hold a steady gaze so I don’t give away what I know or what I clearly didn’t know. The CIA could cause some issues in my plan.

“Why sleep with both DuPonts?” I ask.

“Mitchell doesn’t know the CIA is after him. So, getting close to him is my way of getting information for the lawyer and keeping him in check so he doesn’t lose billions. I’m an excellent negotiator.”

“And the wife?” I point to Allison in the corner.

“I got bored.” She smiles at me.

Kevin backs up a few steps and paces the room. He runs his hands over his face and you can feel the stress oozing out of his veins.

“So, how about you let me out of these restraints and we can take the DuPonts down together?” She bats her eyes. “Isn’t that why you are here?”

I narrow my eyes at her and Kevin huffs.

“But you are on DuPont’s side?” Kevin folds his arms.

“No, I am on the lawyer’s side. He hired me.” She rolls her eyes. Does she not know the predicament she is in?

“It’s the same thing?! DuPont pays the lawyer, the lawyer pays you, you kill me!” Kevin finally sounds logical and smart.

A thud from the other side of the room causes us to jump, Allison sliding off the chair and onto the floor. I chuckle at the position she fell in. That will hurt when she wakes.

“Ouch, we haven’t been in that position before,” Jessica tilts her head to the side. “That will be difficult to explain in the morning.”

I walk up and undo the straps. She boldly smiles at me and Kevin looks on, confused.

“What the hell are you doing?” He raises his voice to me.
