Even though we are given separate bedrooms, I put my clothes neatly in my closet and go to Elsie's room. I cannot wait to talk to her about Sloan and our future. Elsie has almost done putting her clothes in her closet. She looks really happy when I open her door and enter. Her room is identical to mine. I think all the guest bedrooms are the same way in this castle – comfortable, small, and pleasant.

'Ah,' I sigh happily, as I sit down on her soft bed. 'Everything seems to be turning out wonderful.'

'Yes,' she says, putting the last shawl into the closet. 'I like it here – this is a very nice place. Can you imagine that this castle is going to be our home? You will be the Lady of Domnhall, Megan,' she adds, putting on a smile on her face.

'I cannot believe it. It is like a dream coming true,' I say dreamily. 'And Sloan is really nice. I like him. I think he will make a very good husband.'

'Yes, he is handsome, intelligent, and kind,' Elsie replies, smiling. 'He lives in a nice castle. Moreover, he is the Laird of the Castle. What else do you need?'

I chuckle. I wonder what would happen if we did not decide to leave home. We would be trapped with Uncle Murgan, crying now, most probably. And now our uncle is crying most probably. But not because he is worried where we are, but because he cannot get the property. My property. As if reading my mind, Elsie says:

'Uncle is probably trying to find us now. What if he asks Amhuinn, and he tells him where we are?'

'I do not think Amhuinn will tell him,' I shake my head. 'I specifically told him not to tell uncle anything. But even if he does, Sloan will not let uncle in, so do not worry about that. We are safe here,' I add, already feeling myself the Lady of the Domnhall castle.

'Yes, he will slapped in the face if he tries to take us away from here,' Elsie replies. 'Can you imagine, Meg, uncle has probably found out that we are missing from home. What do you think he is doing?'

'Probably looking for us in all places imaginable,' I say, chuckling. 'Even under the horses. But he is not stupid – he will realize that we have run away, and not merely hiding.'

'All of our problems are solved, Meg,' Elsie says happily. 'And what can we do now? Have some rest, and then go have some breakfast.'

'Sloan seems fierce, but he is so attractive,' I cannot stop talking about Sloan, and by each passing minute I get more and more attracted to him.

'Meg, he is really attractive,' Elsie agrees. 'I am so happy for you. And now, if you have rested enough, let's go to the dining-room and have breakfast. I am starving.'

I am also very hungry, and the idea of seeing Sloan again makes me get up eagerly and walk to the door. I open it, and get out into the hallway, with Elsie following me.

'Do you know the way to the dining-room?' I ask her, as we are walking down the hallway.

'No, but we can find it,' Elsie says. 'I like finding new places, so this is going to be fun. Do you think there will be many people in the dining-room now, having breakfast?'

'I do not think so,' I shake my head. 'Probably breakfast has already been served. We are just late. They will serve breakfast only for the two of us, I think.' But I really hope that Sloan will also be in the dining-room, and I will see him again.

As we walk down the hallway, wondering where the dining room can be, I hear a conversation in the left-hand hallway.

'The new girls are beautiful,' a woman's voice is heard.

I stop walking, seeing that they are talking about the new girls, that is, me and Elsie. My sister also stops walking. We stand behind the wall, where they cannot see us. I cannot help but eavesdrop, even though, I know that it is not a good thing to do. Deep inside, I desire to know what they are thinking about me and Elsie. After all, I am going to become the Lady of Domnhall, and everybody's opinions matter.

'Yes, they are, Forba,' says the other woman. 'I wonder why they are here. Can it be that the Laird wants to marry one of them?'

I remember that Forba is one of the maids of the castle who took us to show our bedrooms earlier this morning.

'No, Anabel, it cannot be,' Forba says.

I raise my eyebrows. Why cannot it be? I look at Elsie, and she is equally surprised. We continue eavesdropping.

'His fiancée Lady Kaithria MacTravis is arriving in a few days,' I hear Forba say in her croaky voice.
