'Why are you acting like that? What do you want from me?' I hold her hand with the dagger in it, trying to keep it away from my body.
'You know what? I have changed my mind,' she says, panting, as we struggle on the floor. 'I have decided to kill you, not only prevent you from getting married. If I kill you, it will be more pain for your sister. It will hurt, and it will be good. She should have thought twice before stealing my fiancé from me.'
She keeps talking, not letting me tell her what I think.
'I want to get my revenge!' She says, not noticing that gradually her voice becomes higher. 'And I will get my revenge! I have killed my mother, and it was not a difficult thing to do. I have experience already, and I will kill you, too!'
'You are mad!' I shriek, trying not to let her hit me with the dagger. I hold her hand and keep it away from my body, but she seems to be strong, and I know that I will not be able to keep her away any longer.
'Oh, yes, I am mad, and I will make your sister suffer for what she has done to me!' Kaithria says panting.
During our struggle, neither of us notices that we are making a great deal of noise. Also, the horizon has turned light grey already, and already a lot more can be seen inside the bedroom than when I entered.
The door opens with a noise, and several people rush inside.
'Elsie!'
'What is going on?!'
'Stop it!'
Several men start shouting at once, and I feel someone lifting me from the ground, while someone lifts Kaithria away from me. I see that I am in Calem's arms, and Kaithria is lifted by a warrior.
'Are you all right, my love?' Calem asks me, checking to see if I have any wounds on my body. Thankfully, I do not have, and he lets out his breath that he was holding.
The warrior, who is holding Kaithria, takes the dagger from her, to make her less dangerous.
Someone else enters the room, and I recognize Darah. He looks very angry, not fully clothed, as he was probably informed that something bad was going on between the murderer and the witch.
'What is going on here? Will anyone explain?' He asks in a very tense voice, expecting adequate answers from me and Kaithria, both of us have tangled hair and probably look awful.
'Elsie tried to kill me!' Kaithria says immediately, before I can even open my mouth to say something. 'She tried to kill me, and that is who she is! She is evil. I warned you that she is capable of such things.'
'But you had the dagger in your hands when we entered,' says the warrior holding her. 'I took it from you myself.'
'She had the dagger at first, trying to kill me!' Kaithria shrieks in response. 'Then I managed to take it from her hands, trying to protect myself. She is a real witch.'
'Kaithria, but why are you in Elsie's bedroom?' Darah asks her, narrowing his eyes. 'What you are telling now is impossible, as you entered Elsie's bedroom yourself in the middle of the night.'
While Kaithria hesitates, trying to come up with an answer to that one, I think I have the solution. I use the momentary silence to speak to Darah.
'Please ask her why she hates me so much,' I tell Darah, and he looks at me carefully. 'I will tell you why she hates me so much!' I raise my voice, so that everyone will hear. 'Her ex-fiancé Sloan preferred my sister over her, as he loved Megan, my sister. He did not love Kaithria. So, now she wants revenge from me because my sister got married with her ex-fiancé who did not even love Kaithria and preferred my sister. That is the reason that she acts like this.'
I say all of this in one breath, so that Kaithria would not interrupt me, and Darah would get the entire information that I wanted to give him.
After my words, Kaithria loses control, and that is exactly what I want her to do, to show everyone here that she is the one who is aggressive, lying, and evil. She jumps out of her skin, loses control of her behavior. She starts screaming on top of her lungs:
'I hate you! I hate you! And I am going to kill you! You will be dead very soon, Elsie, and I will make sure of that.'
Everybody is in shock, because initially everyone had thought that Kaithria is a kind and gentle lady who only wanted peace for everyone. And now, seeing her act like a madwoman, Darah realizes who she really is and starts shaking his head.
'Take her away from here, and away from my castle,' he says. 'She will never set foot on my lands. Get her as far from my lands, as possible.'
