I followed the noise through a partially open doorway, then stood there in confusion as I took in a large, masculine bedroom done in shades of green and deep brown with navy blue accents. The bed was still rumpled with pillows strewn against the big carved driftwood headboard. Confusion filled me as I tried to find the source of the crying, because the room appeared to be empty.

Movement to my left caught my attention and I turned to watch as steam poured out of a door on the other side of the room as a gloriously naked and wet Tyler opened it. My jaw hit the floor, and I must have made some kind of noise, because Tyler glanced up, and his eyes went wide. I strangled on a weird mixture of embarrassment, fascination, and even more embarrassment as I openly gaped at his naked form. I couldn’t help it—he was magnificent. A tattoo of St. Michael striking down the devil adorned his left tanned and sculpted pec, and his body looked like it was honed out of solid rock. The difference between the pale skin of his hips and the tan line adoring his lower abs drew my gaze and it wandered downward. I’d seen his body before on the beach, but now my stunned eyes took in the large, but soft penis his board shorts had hinted at.

A pierced, large, but still soft penis.

He had a barbell through the head, with gold balls as big as my pinky nail on either side.

“Penis!” I squeaked before I could stop myself.

He quickly grabbed a towel from somewhere behind the door and shielded himself. “Shit, I didn’t know you were in here.”

“I saw your penis! You have a big, pierced penis!” I blurted to my eternal horror as I wished I could die right then and there. “Oh my God, I’m so sorry! I think I’m having a stroke or something.”

I turned, intending to flee the room, but instead stumbled over Tia as she ambled her furry butt over to another fluffy, fat gray tabby cat that sat beside the doorway to the bathroom. The unfamiliar green eyed feline stared at me like I was a carnival sideshow come to life.

To my relief, I landed on a soft surface, probably his bed, and just laid there in mortification, hoping I would somehow sink into the messy blankets and out of sight.

The sheets smelled like him, and I admit I took a few deep breaths of the luscious scent.

There was the sound of rustling cloth, then a few moments later the bed dipped as Tyler said in a voice filled with suppressed humor. “Nora, are you okay?”

“No,” I said as I threw my hands over my head. “Go away. Let me die of embarrassment in peace.”

His laughter had me peeking out at him, relieved to see he’d put on a pair of dark gray slacks and a black button-down shirt. “I’d apologize, but you did barge into my bedroom.”

Turning my face back to the bed, I hid my burning cheeks as I mumbled, “I thought I heard a baby crying.”

“What?” Tyler said. “I can’t hear you.”

Flopping over to my back, I starfished on the comfortable mattress and rumpled bedding as I stared at the cream painted ceiling. I could smell him, or at least his freshly applied cologne or aftershave or whatever. It was a fresh, spicy pine with a hint of cinnamon to it. Unusual, but mixing with Tyler’s chemistry made it into a delicious scent I wanted to inhale by the lungful.

Letting out a long sigh, I tilted my head to look at him as I said, “I thought I heard a baby crying. I’m so sorry. I had no idea you’d be in here naked.”

His laughter eased my clenched belly even as my humiliation left a sour taste in my mouth. “That was Mia, my other cat. I forgot to warn you, she sounds like a baby when she meows for me to let her into the bathroom. Usually I leave the door open, because she likes to be able to see me. I don’t know why, but she has a weird thing about making sure I’m okay. Since you were in the house, I kept it closed, and she was complaining.”

“That was your cat? Not a baby?”

“Yep.” He grinned, his teeth very white against his dark, tanned skin. “No baby.”

Placing my hands on the bed, I pushed myself off and kept my gaze on the ground. “Can we pretend this never happened?”

“Nope,” Tyler laughed and grabbed his wallet from the dresser. “You owe me at least a cup of coffee for that. Come on, we need to hit the road, you peeping Tom.”

“I was not peeping!” I said in mortification as I covered my face with my hands.

“Suuuuureee,” Tyler said in a teasing tone. “If you wanted a look that bad, all you had to do was ask. Really, blaming it on my cats is cute, but it’s unnecessary.”
