Behind the house, there was a large hill. The small island was craggy and rocky, but otherwise isolated. She and Luca were the only two people on the island.

She guessed that should have freaked her out. And maybe it was so wrong of her, but if he hadn’t been drop dead gorgeous, maybe it would have done.

But he was gorgeous. Hell, he was so gorgeous that while she was currently in her man-hating phase, even her attention was caught.

Where the hell had this guy been? April asked herself. And why the fuck wasn’t he married?

Or maybe he was.

And with her shit dating-radar, she was crushing on him because he was verboten.

Just the luck.

She shook her head at her stupid thoughts, then after shoving the last few items into the armoire, as well as the matching walnut dresser, she decided to get changed.

Well, after she showered first.

The bathroom was another wet dream.

Natural stone walls separated only by a glass wall that partitioned the shower unit itself. White towels were stacked on a low wooden unit in tight rolls that ran the length of one wall. On the other, there was the shower, and the third housed the vanity. Sinks carved out of a huge lump of wood had grand silver faucets hovering over them and a wide mirror reflected her astonished face back at her.

Even the toilet was A-star. Hovering a foot off the floor, it was space aged with buttons she didn’t even want to know how they worked.

Smiling, she dumped her clothes on the vanity, grabbed a towel, and headed into the shower.

The water was perfect. It hit all her sore spots and washed away the grime of her hellishly long flight and journey to this paradise.

If there was anything wrong with this remote paradise was that it was exactly that—remote.

Three flights from LA and a ferry ride was how complicated it was to get here. Although, she conceded, her clients would undoubtedly borrow a ride on a private jet to get closer to the island. Then, they’d either call in another favor of a helicopter ride here or borrow a yacht of their own to reach this glorious paradise.

The journey was only plebeian for someone like herself. And her customer base was nowhere near her level.

She worked for people who lived in a whole other world.

But, she knew instinctively, that though that may be the case, this house would stun even them.

Hell, the owner would too.

As she soaped herself up, she scowled at the thought of Natasha Bayeau drooling over Luca. She was in that revenge phase, where she’d fuck anything that moved to get back at her ex. Damn the consequences.

And Luca was beyond gorgeous enough to make that prospect all the more enticing.

Hell, any red-blooded woman would screw him out of his socks if they had the chance. He was beautiful in that way a brooding man could only be.

He was like a storm on this sunny island. Taking up the energy wherever he was.

She’d been hit sideways this morning. Not only by jet lag, but by the magnificence of the views… then, to see him? To not only see him but be saved from tumbling back into the water by him?

God, it was a wonder her panties hadn’t combusted then and there.

Her cheeks certainly had.

With mortification at being clumsy, not anything else.

She rubbed at her face to clear her makeup—not having the patience to use the wipes she’d brought with her.

Heck, she didn’t have the patience for much else than getting clean and crashing in bed.
