Six hours later, we reached August and Tinder’s vacation home on California’s central coast. I climbed out of the SUV and asked, “Are you sure we’ll be safe here?”

August went around to the back of the Mercedes and took out a suitcase as he said, “There’s no paper trail connecting Tinder or me to this house, and very few people know it exists. Even if they figure out who we are, the brothers won’t be able to link us to this place. Also, I feel it’s much safer than a hotel, because it’s totally private. The nearest neighbors are miles away.”

Carter told us, “I’m going to beef up the wards, just to be on the safe side,” and left the garage.

The house was situated at the edge of a cliff above the Pacific, surrounded by forest on three sides. It was an elegant composition of wood and glass, designed to blend into its surroundings. Although it was beautiful, it was also on the small side, and it would probably be cramped with seven of us hiding out here.

As everyone grabbed their luggage and started to head inside, I told my friends, “We’ll be in soon. I want to stretch my legs for a few minutes.”

I took Elias’s hand and led him down a path that followed the cliff’s edge. “I don’t think we’re going to have much privacy in that house, so I wanted to steal you away for a few minutes,” I told him, once I figured we were out of earshot. “I hope that’s okay.”

“It’s exactly what I wanted.”

It was late and the moon was full, casting its sparkling reflection across the endless expanse of ocean. It stirred up a feeling of restlessness in me, and it seemed to have the same effect on Elias. We walked in silence for a while, until he said, “I’m a little jealous of your vampire friends.”

“Why?”

“Since vampires are made, not born, they’re the only nonhuman species on earth that still exists in its true, undiluted form. The rest of us have to live our lives as fragments of what we might have been. On nights like this, the pull of the moon is so strong. It stirs up all kinds of feelings, and this intense longing. But I’ll never know what it’s like to shift into my wolf form and run wild.”

“I know exactly what you mean. But even if we can’t shift, we can still run wild.” I flashed him a smile, then took off at a sprint, yelling, “I’ll bet you can’t catch me!” He burst out laughing and ran after me.

We dashed through the moonlit forest, weaving among the trees, leaping over rocks, ducking under branches. Both of us were so fast that the woods flew by in a blur. I had a feeling he could catch me any time he wanted to, but we both let it go on for a while because it was exhilarating.

Finally, when I was halfway across a clearing, Elias swept me off my feet and into his arms as I laughed delightedly. He slowed to a jog, then dropped to the ground and claimed me with a fiery kiss, which was laced with a growl.

I grinned as he pinned me beneath him and licked my neck. He got up a few moments later and pulled me to my feet, but I playfully pushed him into a seated position on a nearby boulder.

Then I dropped to my knees in front of him, unzipped his jeans, and pulled down the front of his briefs, exposing his cock. I licked the tip and sucked it almost experimentally, which elicited a soft moan. When it swelled between my lips, that gave me the confidence to continue.

Since I was so inexperienced, I paid close attention and let his sounds guide me. There was something deeply satisfying about pleasuring him like this, such a direct connection between what I was doing and how he responded. I tried different things, licking, sucking, and caressing his cock and balls as I drove him toward his climax.

Just a few minutes later, my efforts paid off. His yell was primal, and he fucked my mouth as he shot down my throat. I moaned with pleasure around his thick shaft and kept sucking until he was spent.

He was gasping for breath when he finished, and he leaned back and propped himself up with both hands on the boulder. Meanwhile, I tucked him in and zipped him up again before climbing onto his lap.

Once he caught his breath, he kissed me and murmured, “You’re amazing.” That made me smile.

He picked me up and started carrying me through the woods, so I wrapped my arms and legs around him and rested my head on his shoulder. After a while, I asked, “Do you think we’ll be safe here?”
