As Jade slipped happily into Harley’s large, strong arms, she noticed one of her new brothers dancing nearby with a beautiful blonde. It was one of the twins, and she was ashamed to admit she still wasn’t able to tell Sawyer and Finn apart.
“You skeevy little prick!”
The angry shout cut through the sounds in the ballroom like a knife. The dancers paused, and even the orchestra was startled into silence. Everyone turned to see the stunning redhead standing at the edge of the dance floor. Her hair was as fiery as her temper and it was focused directly on the twin who was dancing nearby.
“Who is that woman, Sawyer?” the blonde dancing with him asked.
Sawyer shook his head. “I have no idea. Can I help you?”
“Can you help me?” she repeated bitterly. “Yes. You can hold still.” The angry woman walked up to Sawyer and slapped him hard across the face. There was a collective gasp as everyone in the ballroom froze, waiting to see what was going to happen next.
Two of Harley’s brawniest security guys intervened before things could escalate. As quietly and discreetly as they could, they whispered into the woman’s ear and escorted her out of the ballroom. A moment later, Sawyer went after the redhead, leaving his date looking confused and annoyed on the dance floor.
“I wonder what that was all about,” Jade said as the music started up again.
“With this family? I couldn’t even begin to guess!” Harley laughed. “All I know is that we’re definitely eloping and going to Bora Bora.”
