“Just one, mummy?” Pippa clasps her hands under her chin as she peers down at her baby brother. “He’s just so small and he smells so nice.”

“Just one, on his hand.”

“Daddy, I love Alice, she’s the best baby sister ever. But Alfie is just something else.” Molly kisses his hand before she wraps her arms around my waist.

“So are you, Princess…” I ruffle her hair with one hand as I pull Pippa in for a cuddle with the other. “And you, baby girl.”

Quincy rests her head on my bicep as she winds Alfie. Her contented sigh filling the silence.

“I know.” She says after a beat.

“You know?” I ask.

“What do you know, mummy?”

She looks up at me. The shy glint coming back and tinting her cheeks a darker shade of rose.

“You told me to let you know when I knew.” She bites her bottom lip, “I don’t think, Jamie, I know.”
