Quincy was still passed out when I came out of the bathroom. She looked so peaceful, yet so very thoroughly fucked that it made me smile with pride.

I did that to her.

We had a first together that was so much more than an innocent and tame kiss. There was nothing innocent or tame about all the ways I still wanted her. Of all the things I still wanted to do to her…with her. It wasn’t even the actual things I wanted to do to her that already had me ready for an encore, it was the knowledge that she trusted me enough to let me do them to her. To be the one to make her feel. She trusted me to give her what no one else had. The intimacy of it was fucking delicious and hot, but it also had this glue—a permanence—that said we were so much more than just two people fucking and enjoying one another.

Don’t get me wrong, I knew that we were more than all those things. In so many ways she’d always been a big part of me. She may have been able to bring out the worst in me, but she was also the best. She was my heart and she was the light that touched every shaded crevice of my soul. She was the entity that made me see things differently. Even when life got hard and everything was tinged with hopelessness, just the thought of her and her strength put it all into perspective for me. She was all that was good in my world and existence. As soppy and cheesy as it sounded—it was the unwa

vering truth.

I’d had her before I had a wife. I’d kept her whilst I had a wife. And when I no longer had a wife, she was still there. She was still the bullseye of my world. I knew that would never change. She was the one constant that I would never let go, I couldn’t live without her. Even when oceans and continents separated us, when the decisions we’d made and the paths we’d taken separated us, we still walked parallel in the same direction together. Maybe it had taken us longer than it should have to reach the same junction, but we were finally on the same road. It wasn’t smooth and it was filled with potholes and cracks that would inevitably trip us up, but I had every intention of holding her hand and pulling her up like I knew she would do for me.

We weren’t friends. We weren’t lovers. We weren’t partners. We were all those things combined. We were everything. Soulmates.

I could feel the smile on my face growing as the sound of the cartoons filtered in through the hardwood door and the light blue silk covered and cream painted walls. The smell of well toasted Pop Tarts mixing with the warm and mouth-watering scent of sweat, chocolate and sex.

Usually she’d have stirred by now. It was like she could feel, like she knew, that I was watching her and she wanted to look her fill in return. But not today. Today she was in a sexed out coma, and it was gratifying. Even as the mattress dipped beneath me as I sat on the edge of the bed beside her she didn’t budge. The light blue velvet quilt and the bright white sheet tangled around her legs covering nothing but the base of her back and her bum.

If Richard weren’t coming over to talk to the girls later, I would’ve let her sleep until she needed to get ready for work this afternoon. But he’d chosen not to leave Jenna by herself, not when she needed him to be there. He’d decided to come by today and it was probably for the better. Yesterday had been so highly strung, that they’d needed to take stock and figure out the best way to talk to the girls.

I laid down beside Quincy as I brushed the tangled deep gold strands from her face.

“Wakey wakey, Aurora.” I pulled her closer to me even as she tried to squirm away. “Come on Sleeping Beauty it’s time to get up, baby.”

A gravelly whine escaped her throat as she pinched her eyes closed.

I trailed my fingers down her neck to the pronounced dip of her waist, “Don’t make me tickle you.”

“No…” She moaned, her body rolling into mine. “Just five more minutes? I want a cuddle for five minutes more.”

“So do I, but Richard will be here soon and the girls are already up.” I gave her a squeeze as I kissed her temple and then her cheek.

“They’re up?” She turned to me with wide sleep glazed eyes, “You should’ve woken me up. I promised Pippa I’d take her out for breakfast.”

“I know, but you looked so peaceful and the Pop Tarts made her so happy that I left you a little longer whilst I showered.” I traced the soft skin leading up to her breast and the little black dots and dashes hidden under it. “Come on.”

I sat up pulling her with me. Her back to my front.

“I’m so tired and it’s all your fault.” She lolled her head back onto my shoulder.

“I know and I’m going to keep tiring you out.” I smiled into her neck as she reached back and combed her fingers through my damp cropped hair.

She sighed as I stood and lifted her into my arms. Her legs wrapping around my waist as I walked us into the bathroom and sat her on the vanity.

“So cold.” She said sliding her hands under her thighs as I tempered the shower for her.

I could feel her burning gaze on my skin and as I turned around she swept her eyes from my chest to my feet and then up to my face. Her teeth chewing on her bottom lip.

“Get in there and stop looking at me like that when I can’t follow through on your thoughts.”

“You don’t even know what I was thinking.” She stuck her tongue out at me as she got down from the vanity and sauntered into the shower making sure to press her body into mine. Her bum wiggling into my groin.

Jesus, help me.

My dick jumped to attention at the very deliberate contact.

“I have a fair idea.” I muttered hoarsely.

She popped her head out of the shower. Her eyes going down to my semi and her tongue licking her lips. “After this morning fair doesn’t even come into the equation. You’ve been holding out on me Doctor Anson.”
