I inwardly groaned with frustration but outside…I had a smile on my face.

Xander, who likes to share his women with his brother, was grumpy over his brother first and then my personal trainer. He was jealous whether he noticed that or not.

I couldn’t help my giggle and checked the boxes Xander brought with a smile on my face.

There were two pair of skinny jeans, one tank top, one blazer jacket, one leather shorts, one skirt, one dress, a few t-shirts…

What the hell?

He bought me a damn new wardrobe. Also, he bought me a few pair of shoes. I liked his choices. There was a pair of boots and two pairs of stilettos.

A pair of electric blue stilettos... I was in love!

It was too much…too good. I was afraid to look their price tags.

Though I was a little dumbstruck, I grabbed one pair of dark jeans and a baby blue t-shirt, and quickly put them on. I couldn’t stop myself from wearing those electric blue goodies. Fortunately, everything fit perfectly. I knew he had someone choose these pieces for me but I enjoyed imagining him looking for them for me to wear.

After fifteen minutes I was ready.

I was ready to deal with new day and I was determined to get closer finding Angel.

I left the room to meet the investigator.

Xander’s study door was slightly ajar but I knocked once before entering, anyway.

“Flame, come in and meet Fabien Dumont. The investigator.” Xander said. He barely looked at my way.

Geez…hot, grumpy bastard!

I turned to look at Fabien Dumont but was a bit shocked. I had expected someone middle-aged in a suit. But Mr. Dumont was the total opposite of what I initially thought.

He was young. In his late twenties or early thirties. His hair was a wild mohawk style. His face had a lot of piercings: two on his lips, two on the right eyebrow and one in the middle of his nose. He was in ripped-baggy jeans and a worn-out t-shirt. His boot was unlaced.

He looked…like a rebel, not like an investigator, he was too wild to play the part.

“Mr. Dumont.” My voice came out like a question, it caused him to grin.

“Just Fabien,” he extended his arm for a firm handshake.

“Fabien Dumont is the best investigator in America and Canada. He didn’t decline my offer and came here.” Xander said behind me.

“Thank you again for coming in such a short notice, Fabien,” he said with very business-like tone.

“Your offer was worth it, Mr. Vincent. Thank you for your generosity.” Fabien said.

What? Did he pay for an investigator, for me?

“Xander…I don’t want you to pay for it. It is something about me. You don’t have to do that,” I turned to him in panic. I heard Fabien’s soft chuckle behind me but didn’t care at that moment.

“It is about you? You say, that’s not my business? Come again, Flame.” Xander told me. His voice was daring, his eyes were challenging. I knew he was already bothered with Gary and I didn’t want to frustrate him more but…

Uggh…

“I don’t want you to pay a fortune to take care of my problem.”

His eyes roamed over my body and he stood up to walk toward me.

He placed his hand on my neck when he stopped in front of me. His fingers were digging into my skin almost painfully. His fingers were tangled in my hair as he pulled my hair to lift my head.
