“And you’re being a terrible boss,” she whispered, and swayed closer to me. I could smell her perfume, and it made my breath hitch in my chest. She mistook the sound for pain. “Are you alright? Why the hell are you out of the hospital?” She asked, pressing a hand against my side, just over the wound.

“Because you’re not there,” I told her flatly. Her eyes flickered to mine.

“You’re really going all out, aren’t you? Why?” she mused.

“Because–the other night might have been crazy, but that kiss wasn’t. It was the only thing that made sense. I’ve not built the life I have by ignoring when something feels so right. You and me, Eden, we are meant to be together,” I said. My voice was unwavering and full of authority. I was right. I knew it down to my soul.

She stepped closer, her hand still on my side, but now, curling around my hip. I pulled her close and pressed against her.

“Can you get brain damage from being stabbed?”

“Not unless it was in the head. It’s not crazy to want you, Eden, and the fact that you think it makes me furious. No other man has made you realise your value. I hate them and am thankful at the same time.”

“Thankful? Why are you thankful to these hypothetical lacklustre men?”

“Because I get to have you for myself. It’s a fucking travesty you’re here, single, and so perfectly clueless of your appeal, and a stroke of luck for me.” I leaned in, speaking the last into her hair. “Because I get to have you.”

“You do? Who says?”

“Turn me down then. Tell me you don’t feel it too. Look me in the eye and tell me that kiss was a mistake, and you don’t want me.” Her hands were holding my arms, keeping me close, as I turned her slowly against the desk, and walked her back until her butt pressed against the edge. “I’m waiting.”

Her hands moved from my arms and back to my body, spaying across my chest, not stopping me, just touching me.

“I don’t hear you, Eden. Speak up, or I’m going to kiss you again, and this time, I won’t stop until you’re begging me to come, exploding against my face, your wet thighs gripping my head.”

“Khan,” Eden breathed, shaking now, her whole body trembling. I cupped her face and smoothed an adoring finger across her cheekbone. “I’ve never done any of this. I don’t know how to,” she admitted. My breath left me in a rush, and I leant my forehead against hers, my heart pounding in my barren chest. All the success in the world, all the attention from women, media and investors, and all the accolades and awards didn’t do what Eden’s whispered confession did. It was humbling. It was a gift, precious like nothing else. This woman had chosen me. Me. I felt like a king at that moment, as she raised her breathtaking eyes to mine. “Is it normal to feel like this? So excited I could faint,” she continued. I shook my head.

“No. It’s not normal,” I told her. Worry flashed through her eyes, as if I was criticising her reaction. I hastened to correct her. “I feel it too.”

“You do?” she asked, as I leaned in toward her lips, needing to taste her again. To savour her unique flavour and remember it forever.

“Only for you,” I murmured, and closed the distance between us. I kissed her hard, and she met my need inch for inch. Her tongue battled mine, even as I pulled her up and sat her on the edge of my desk, and bent her head back to cup her face. “Fuck, I’ve been waiting for this since the moment we met,” I groaned, as I pulled back, only to kiss along her jaw and catch her ear lobe between my teeth. She gasped at the sudden, small sharpness. My hands went straight to her blouse, dipping inside the pillowy silk to close around her lace clad breast. I thumbed the peak, and she moaned. The sound was throaty and deep and filthy as hell. “I want to get you out of these clothes,” I told her, fully intending on stripping us both off right here and now.

“What about your employee rule??” she demanded, looking at me with blown pupils.

“Fuck it. It’s only for three more days. Life’s too short and I can’t not touch you one more minute,” I told her, my hand heading instead for her short skirt. I slid my hand up her thigh, grateful beyond hell that she wasn’t wearing stockings, and traced over the front of her lacy underwear. She was wet, her heat singeing me through the material.

“I’m going to finger you now until you come, ok?” I checked, stroking the front of her panties. She gasped at my words, and the feeling of my finger working its way around the elastic of her panties and through her folds. She nodded, biting her lip.

“Just shut me up if I get too noisy,” she muttered, and bit her own hand as my fingers found her clit, and I ran that point up and down her slit, before settling back on that bunch of nerves that made her pant. I rubbed it quickly, knowing I could get her off in minutes, before we were interrupted, and then, maybe more. I wanted to destroy her with pleasure, so she forgot everything but my name. I wanted to ruin her for even any thought of other men. I wanted her to realise that nothing would ever feel as good as it felt when we were together.

I circled her clit and her thighs tensed and her breath hitched. My hard-on felt like it could burst through my slacks, but I ignored it. Eden first, and always.

When she came, I clamped my hand over her mouth just in time to lock her scream inside, as her thighs tightened so hard around my hand that I couldn’t move. I wiggled my fingers with the last of the movement she’d left me, dragging out her pleasure, and she muttered and gasped her release against my palm, before licking the inside of my fingers, making me groan too. I needed to be inside this woman now. I needed my ring on her finger. I needed to stake my claim, and make sure I’d have her forever. Nothing had ever felt so urgent. I opened my mouth to tell her just that, when a knock at the door sent Eden’s teeth sinking into my fingers in fright. I let go of her mouth and we both stared at each other for a moment, before a voice called from the hall.

“Khan? I’m coming in.”
