It’s been weeks since I punished Avery, but any attempts to get her out of my head have failed miserably. She has kept her distance, as I requested, but I can tell it’s nothing but torture for both of us.
I stare out the window of my office as I remember seeing her in class this morning. She looked beautiful with her long hair pulled up in a ponytail, tight jeans that hugged every curve of her body, and a white button-down shirt to finish the outfit. She left just the top button undone, leaving the rest to the imagination.
I spent the entire class attempting to block out images of her legs spread wide as I lapped at her core. She’s come into class every day, taking the seat right in front of me. I try not to let her see how much I long to have her again, but she knows. The shy smiles she gives me throughout the entire class are all the evidence I need.
“Damn it!” I slam my hand on the wall next to the window.
I need to get my shit together. I can’t go around imaging fucking my student all day.
I turn toward my desk, shut off my laptop, and stuff it into my bag. I’ve been attempting to get some work done for the last two hours, but I can’t focus. Everywhere I turn, images of my time spent with Avery flash through my mind.
I don’t waste any time heading out of my office toward the parking lot. Just as I turn the corner to exit the building, I catch sight of Avery and her cheating little friend Alec. I take a step back, hiding behind the corner. All I need is to run into her and another student. When I’m this wound up, there’s no telling what I would do.
I watch Avery fidget with his backpack draped over his shoulder.
“Hey, Avery. How did I do on the test for you?”
Avery falters for a moment before answering.
“We did all right. Thanks so much for the help.” Flashing him a bright smile, she steps to the right to pass him and exit the building, but he stops her.
“How about you come to dinner with me as a thank you?” He gives her a timid smile.
I can tell she is very uncomfortable with the recent turn of events. I walk around the corner on my way to save the day when Avery looks up. Our eyes lock before her face breaks out into a bright smile.
“Of course! I would love to go to dinner with you.”
“Seriously? That’s amazing! Is there any place you’d like to go?”
“How about we go to the French restaurant on Fourteenth Street? My sorority sisters and I eat there a lot.” She gives him a timid smile before looking at me. “I’ll meet you there around seven. Sound good?”
“Sure. Are you sure you don’t want me to pick you up?” He asks as he reaches for her hand, bringing her attention back to him.
“Yeah. My sorority house is in the opposite direction. Besides, don’t you live on Tenth? That’s only a few blocks away.”
I notice his shoulders sag slightly before he releases her hand. “You have a great memory. You were only at my place a few times, and that was weeks ago.”
I grit my teeth tightly, holding back my comment.
“I remember everything about the time we spent together.”
I want to run over there and wrap her in my arms, but I can’t. We are nothing to each other and never can be.
“Wow. Well, I’ll…um…see you at seven.” Alec gives her hand one final squeeze before turning to head out the building.
I wait a few seconds before I stride quickly toward her. “What the fuck was that about?”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Samuel. I’m sure you heard everything while you were lurking around the corner. Don’t think for a minute that I didn’t notice you back there.”
“I know you noticed me. I’m talking about this little display you put on. You know he has a thing for you. Why would you lead him on like that?”
“Who said I was leading him on?” Fire lights in her eyes as she takes a step closer to me.
If I leaned forward slightly, our lips would brush against each other, but with great effort, I resist.
“Just because you don’t want me doesn’t mean there isn’t someone else out there for me.” She reaches forward, as if to caress my cheek, but stops at the last minute. “Goodbye Samuel.”
